finished first bigadv unit but it wont send

Post by KnightRid »

Well as the title says - I finished the first bigadv unit, but it hung at sending. I rebooted the VM and it snagged a new WU to work on, but now it comes up and says it could not connect to work server, then tries the alternate port, but still cant connect..?? Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything i can do on my end to try and fixi t or is just that the f@h servers are down?

oh the ip it tries is 171.67.108.22:8080 and then port 80 for the alternative port

What do you mean "won't send" ? They are a HUGE unit (512k upload will take 25-35 minutes).

No, like i said above - it says it cant connect to the main or the alternative. It is working on unit 2 just fine, but it hasnt been able to send unit 1 yet.

I have 768up speed so I was figuring 30 minutes even for me....time wasnt the problem, it just wont connect.

Have you tried resetting the clients?

I've heard of this problem before and I got no idea how to deal with it. Go on the EVGA forums and ask for help. They seem to know a lot. Heck even if you lurk there you'll learn many things.

better of going to the FAH forums, get the answer directly from the source

2nd unit finished - seems like it might have sent, but no credit for it - maybe I am not at the 10 unit part yet? I should have been, easily. *sigh* Just one more reason to get frustrated. I am letting it run on the bigadv to see what happens - if I never get the major points from it, I will just stop. Everything seems to be running correctly, there is no reason for them not to send or get me the bonus points.

OH - I cant even ping the ip addy that it is trying to send to - but f@h page for servers says it is running just perfectly - LMAO - wow

yea! I was notified on twitter :) Now I wonder if that is for both of them I completed or just 1 - probably both.

Wonder if it would be better to put all 8 cores on the CPU folding and stop the GTX260?

Might try and get some more OC out of it too - is back to being stable at 4.1ghz - might be because of only using 7 cores for the cpu folding.

why only 7 cores? the GPU client doesn't take up CPU % like it used to back in GeForce 175. days

Everybody says when using the GPU to fold to leave 1 virtual core for it - dunno, but that is what all the guides say. I see at least 90% of the cpu being used constantly wiht 7 cores and 1 for the gpu. I know OC'ing by 5mhz fsb gave me like 3-5 seconds better folding per percent - lol - Just doesnt seem like it would matter a whole lot with adding the last virtual core to the mix :)

It's worth checking out the points difference.

You can work out the total points (including bonus points) via this calculator:
http://www.linuxforge.net/bonuscalc.php

And working out the loss (if there is one) in GPU will be easy enough in fahmon.

7 core and 8 core -bigadv folding on a Core i7 isn't that big of a difference in terms of performance. Why not leave the 8th core for whatever you need to do, say web browsing or w/e? If the rig was dedicated to folding, then maybe you're considering using 8 cores. At least that's what I'd do.
