*FIXED* CD drive doesn't work after registry clean?

Post by lordvic »

I cleaned the registry, unused programs, etc on one of my older computers. The next thing I know the CD-ROM doesn't work; yellow exclimation mark on it in Device Manager. It says the drivers are corrupted or missing...it's a plug and play CD-drive. I tried disabling it than re-enable, Re-installing it, but it won't work. Would be amazing if anybody has a solution!

In the CD-ROM properties is says: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I tried with another CD-drive that I have and I still get the same issue... :?

EDIT: I seem to have narrowed it down....seems to be realted with iTunes. Whenever I uninstall iTunes my CD drive stops working. I'll try some solutions from the web...

*iTunes messed with the registry. I got it fixed.*

I know you have it fixed but Apple uses Gear Software's drivers to burn discs. So it may be an issue with Gear and not Apple. If you don't want iTunes installed uninstall it and just install the burning drivers and see if the issue is still there.
