I agree with you 100%. Like I said, we've been mulling over the purchase for a couple of years now. We don't get much "us" time due to my wife's responsibilities in taking care of her mom. We've talked countless times about how nice it would be to have a laptop so one of us could sit on the loveseat with it while the other is on the desktop in the same room rather than as it is now. The two desktops are at opposite ends of the house. #-o I suppose we could IM each other.

Well, I'm exhausted and going to bed. I've been dealing with this problem all frigging afternoon. http://forums.legitreviews.com/about24841.html If you can shed any light on the problem, I'd be greatly appreciative. =D> \:D/ =D>

Thanks again!

Well, leave it to me and things become terribly snafu'd. None of the Office Depots in the Buffalo metro area had the laptop I finally decided on so I ordered it from their web site thinking it would come from some regional hub or something sensible like that. Nope.

The online order went to the local warehouse who in turn didn't have any. Perfectly livid at this point after two hours elapsed time on the phone I cancelled my order. I thought about buying the next one up from the one I decided on since it was on sale but then I changed my mind because that would leave me too tight for the rest of the month.

I'm just going to hang on to my money, throw some more in the pot next month and simply get better laptop with the extra cash. I'm guessing I'll be looking in the $600-$700 range by then. Ironically, I'll have to order it from my desktop with my mending leg in the way that I said I couldn't use.

Ah well. Going tonight to have a steak dinner at the Roycroft, a local historical home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It's the Millard Filmore Birthday Celebration which has rib-splitting local and national political satire. It's always a blast. I'm really looking forward to it.

Talk to y'all later!

Yeah, it does suck but in the mean time the steak was damn good and so was the entertainment. I just figure I wasn't able to get it now for a good reason.

Here's the one I'm thinking I'll get if it's still the same price next month. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Gateway+-+L ... 8122908891 Gateway's price was $699. Didn't think it was too bad of a deal @ $599 with a C2D, 500 gig HDD and 4 GB of DDR3. Not 100% behind Gateway as a brand but everything I saw comparable was a couple hundred more and had less features.

Any way it goes, I'll have another month to shop around. Before I buy I'll give Dell, HP, etc. another once over. Dell always gets my hopes up then I see "Celeron" and I just want to suck buttermilk. Hp's just about as bad.

Here's a little useless trivia. I've noticed that "a", "l" and "n" are the most used keys on my keyboard. They're almost completely erased from their keys. Must be typing "lan" a lot.

I really like Dell Vostro laptops. They are no frills buisness minded laptops. To top it off most of them ship with minimal "value added software" aka crap that slows down the computer.

For me the only problem with the Vostro is the price. I don't doubt they're good but just too expensive for my budget if I try to match the feature set of the Gateway in a $599 price point.
