Post by skier »

so i have this PSU that only has a 4pin ATX power connector, and i want to use it on a board that has an 8pin header, will this work?

I think it would work but may not be very stable depending upon how much power your processor required.

well its a Pentium4, which only requires a 4pin connector on the original board its on right now, so the header is based on the CPU not the board? (im used to plugging in everything a board has available)

Or pick up one of these and be on the safe side.

you'll be fine with just a 4pin connector. Its based on the cpu not the motherboard. An 8pin connector is really only necessary for heavy overclocking in most situations.

when i booted with a 4pin it had no video :\ that PSU is a crappy unit to begin with owell, since i made a VGA dummy plug i've been running 3 cards folding anyway

i'll pick up a 4-8 connector anyway as i really should have one to begin with i'll give it a go
