Would like some truth why people are not folding@home

Post by vbironchef »

We have a lot of long term folders that have stopped folding or reduced there points a great deal. I was just wondering what the truth is without naming names. My whole point of this post is that we have dropped below a avg 6000ppd per person and I know if we don't pick up the pace we will start to be passed up. I think if we all work together and figure out any issues you may have, we as a team can help and start folding more ppd. I'm just wondering what's up and no I will not judge anyone or give a lecture about anything. Just was wondering. I hope you respond, thanks.

PS. we really could use your help if you can.

my average has tripled since the contest haha cuz i was working on a videocard review no computer was folding consistently...then i got mah GTS 250 :D (couple week late christmas present) wish i had my SLI system going as that would add another 4k, but i don't have an SLI bridge that would work with my current board, and the 750i has too many flaws for me to go back to it, or does it ;)

for some reason the SLI GSO's got much better benchmark results (185,000 vs 139,000 in aquamark at lower CPU speeds) than my GTS 250 maybe the swap around is worth it :-k

Unfortunately its all about the lack of funds to pay the electric bill. Hopefully I can find a paying job soon and get all caught up on bills and start folding again.

Our main source of income (my dad) walked out on our family last year, is unemployed, and TBH the only reason why I splurged on a F@H war was because I threw caution to the wind. I'm still putting out a few PPD but not like before. As much as I love the community here, I literally can't afford to fold 24/7 but any time a PC I own puts out points for F@H it'll be for team 38296.

got the cards switched around, but my CPU is only at 360 FSB 3.42GHz now because of this board so SMP will be a little slower

im boosting the power bill a tad, but we have 5 quartz lights that use steady 500W when on, and there is usually one for vehicle work(brother putting a turbo in his eclipse), and two on for remodeling my sisters room, so my three cards and one SMP doesnt even compare

I'm still in the process of moving. I still have my rig hooked up at my Grandmothers lol. :nut kick: ...but i just got approved on the new place so hopefully not too much longer I can put some points out. I had the itch to fold the whole month but living with Grandma and not wanting to strap a rocket to her bill persuaded me not to fold for now.

I am still going strong, but my points may fall pretty soon. Our electric company is in the works to raise our bills 30-60% by 2012, so depending on when that happens, I may have to turn 1 or 2 off myself.

With the bigadv units, I could probably just run the core i7 and get some nice ppd, but the others help a little bit too.

I havhave been laid off since April- and to be honest right now folding hasnt been one of my priorities. I let 5 computers and a ps3 run 24/7 during the contest last month with only a $260 electic bill this month to show for it (in hine site I shoulda just bought the damn processor, lol). When my computer is on while I am doing school work its usally folding.

My bill jumped $60 from the war, plus I am probably selling the e6600 machine to a friend who, no lie, has a 9 year old PC. The 9800GTX will be going with that machine and the 9600 GSO will be my only full time folder after that.

I would expect at least a 60 dollar hike. Figure 30 dollars for each rig folding@home 24/7.
