Today we look at the new flagship cooler from Noctua, the NH-D14. Noctua had a chore on their hands improving on the old NH-U12P design and performance. The NH-D14 has a total of six heatpipes and dual radiators equipped with dual fans! With specifications like this it is no wonder that the Noctua NH-D14 CPU cooler is regarded as one of the premier CPU coolers on the market today, if not the best.
Noctua set out to improve on their previous design and they did, and it was a noticeable improvement. The NH-D14 is bigger and heavier than its predecessor, though. With both fans installed on the NH-D14 the cooler weighs in at a whopping 1.24kg so some may shy away from it just based on the weight, let alone its overall size, but there are those that will jump on this and not think twice about it. You can pick up a NH-D14 for $79.99 plus shipping. Now in a slow economy it may be hard to drop that much on a cooler. I can agree with that, but it is worth the money and falls into the old saying “you get what you pay for.” With the Noctua NH-D14 beating out 18 other coolers on our overclocked Intel Core i7 920 processor we have to give it the Legit Reviews Editor's Choice award!
Second the monster statement.
Wonder what "lapped" results would bring.
Imagine CPU's are all so different that the results might vary widely.
My e8500 was certainly NOT flat, but it sure was when I was done sanding it.
ga-z77-dh3 (great & cheap O/C'er from Gigabyte)
i2600k/16 gigs Kingson 1600 (OC'ed to 4.5Ghz)
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 + (lapped, smok'in deal, 38C idle, 65C loaded)
MSI GTX 660ti Power Edition
Antec 900 case (quiet)
There's an "imitation" of this beast already in the European market from Coolink, called Corator DS. I don't know which one came up first with the design though.

I was thinking the same thing. Was looking at other coolers that cost less but they all come without fans. Add in the price of two fans and they cost close to or as much as this and don't perform as good.
That's a beast! I have a Noctua cooler and I'm very happy with it. Keep up the good work Noctua. Maybe try polishing the base? I'd pay a few dollars more if it helped.
