URGENT HELP!!!
URGENT HELP!!!
Im typing this on my ipod so im sorry for grammitical mistakes. I was playing call of duty 6 and my game froze so i hit my reset button to restart. Oddly though i went into BIOs on my boot because i wanted to overclock my cpu. I set it to manual and linked the ram and cpu mhz and raised the cpu clock to 825mhz and saved and left the BIOs. Upon restart there was no post or beeps, so i held down my power button to try again only to receive the same effect, no beeps, posts, or signal to my monitor. I unplugged the power cable and my USB devices and opened my case. I cleaned and reseatted EVERYTHING except the motherboard (but i did unplug it's 24pin). Closed it back up and tried to turn it back on and the same thing happened, fans and lights work, but no post or beeps. I'm scared about losing my PC and having to buy new parts just when i was about to upgrade to an ATI 5750
*cries*

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Have you tried resetting the BIOS to the defaults.
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
there's no connection to the monitor. How would i be even able to do that if it wont connect
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Sounds like you got a unstable oc which is causing it to freeze during post. Reset your bios by removing the battery for a few or jumping the clear cmos pins. Do not turn the system on when you have the pins jumped to reset the BIOS.
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
There seems to be a lever holding it in place. I'm not sure how to get it out lol
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Got it out, gonna wait 5 mins
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Might want to read the overclocking guide before you try to OC your setup again.

You have no idea how thankful I am for Legit Reviews Forums right now. I thought I was never going to be able to turn my PC back on again, EVER! You helped me and now I'm proudly typing to you on my desktop instead of my 3" ipod screen. I am forever in your debt, thank you so much.
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
That's why we are all here. I think every body here has needed help at one point or another, so don't worry about it. Just make sure you pm me your address so I can send you the billEvasion wrote:You have no idea how thankful I am for Legit Reviews Forums right now. Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Strange, most newer boards reset themselves to default and scream at you that it failed to POST because of a bad OC.
Evasion, I told you to link your RAM to 800Mhz when that's what I thought it was. You need to keep it around 667 if you want to retain your current RAM timings.

Here's my motherboard in detail: http://reviews.cnet.com/motherboards/ev ... 40078.html
Major_A, do I just change my settings to UNLINKED and set the FSB to 825mhz and leave the RAM at it's default, 666mhz, or am I missing something?

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
always leave RAM at default clocks/timing or worse when overclocking(i usually keep RAM way under spec, but then again i have DDR3 1800 which my board doesn't support.), fool with the RAM afterwards.

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
I got a stable 2.5 [2550.0ghz] overclock right now. Idles at 22 which is good I suppose. I got to go for tonight though because I still need a shower haha. What do you guys recommend I should set the FSB mhz to now? It's currently at 850mhz. I should be able to get about 875mhz FSB tomorrow right? That sounds like a 2.6-2.7ghz overclock. Give me your thoughts, ideas, and configurations for me to test tomorrow pleze
if I get my fsb to 875 tomorrow, i should have.a 2.6ghz overclock, does my ram need to be messed with at this point or am I fine leaving it at 667mhz for now?

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Every time you overclock your CPU's FSB the RAM overclocks with it. I was telling you to run a divider on your RAM to have it run at 533Mhz when your FSB is at 200Mhz. That way you will stay at or under the 667Mhz that it is rated at to run. I've had many of stable overclocks that wouldn't remain stable because of RAM. Keep that in mind.

Manual for your board, clear cmos jumper is to the left of the battery.

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Major, is that divider 4? As in set ram to 533mhz when FSB is at 200 x 4 = 800. 800 = 2.4ghz, 900 = 2.7ghz, 1000 = 3.0ghz. Divide each of those 3 numbers by 4 (ex. 800/4 = 200 which is the FSB x 4 equalling 800 mhz in the BIOs. So RAM when it's set at 533 when FSB is 800mhz (200 x 4) in BIOS automatically raises when you raise your clock in BIOS (ex. 800, 900, 1000)? Is that all correct? Took me a bit to calculate and comprehend. What's the highest clock I can get without making my RAM unstable by going over 667mhz?
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Every board I've used in the last 4 years does the calculation for you. Set the RAM to run at 533Mhz or maybe 266Mhz in your BIOS. See that as you raise your CPU's FSB if there is another number that increases that is by the RAM settings. That is telling you what your RAM is running at. Give me a minute and I'll show you an example.

Re: URGENT HELP!!!

Is this overclock okay? or should I push the FSB more? Possibly to 3.0ghz (1000mhz FSB)? Is my max data transfer rate the highest my Memory can overclock without exceeding? I'm currently at 266.0mhz
Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Lower the divider on the RAM to 200Mhz or 400Mhz and see if you can get it farther.
Look at the CPU-Z tab, Memory. The first value you see there, DRAM Frequency, multiply that number by 2 to get the actual speed of your RAM. It won't hurt to push for more, the added frequency doesn't hurt the CPU, it's the heat and voltage that will kill it. Keeps the temps in check and don't pump too much voltage and it will be fine.

Re: URGENT HELP!!!
Check this out, I'm stopping for now. Not going any further, it's a 3.0ghz OC. Check my RAM and CPU info to make sure everything's okay.
