FREMONT, Calif. and GLASGOW, United Kingdom, March 16, 2010 (GLOBE
NEWSWIRE) -- Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products
for digital media, today introduced Crucial DDR3L-1333Mhz 1.35v
energy-efficient server memory modules in support of the new Intel Xeon
processor 5600 series. Available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB RDIMM and VLP
(very low profile) RDIMM modules, Crucial DDR3L memory modules are
fully compatible and have been validated with the new Intel Xeon
processor 5600 series. Servers across the enterprise, including those
utilized for virtualization, data storage and processing, and blade
servers will reap the benefits of new Crucial DDR3L memory. Crucial
DDR3L memory is available through select resellers worldwide and online
at http://www.crucial.com/server, http://www.crucial.com/uk/server, or

"The benefits of energy-efficient DDR3L memory are clear -- most
notably the significant reduction in memory sub-system energy
consumption and overall system cooling demands. Moreover, these
benefits come without sacrificing the performance gains our customers
expect from Intel's next-generation servers," said Jim Jardine, Lexar
Media senior worldwide product manager. "Additionally, all Crucial
DDR3L 1.35v memory has been fully validated and certified compatible
with the Intel Xeon Processor 5600 series, so customers can rest
assured their server infrastructure investment will perform reliably
and efficiently with Intel's newest processors."
"We appreciate the comprehensive efforts and commitment put forth to
deliver Crucial DDR3L low-voltage memory that is certified and
guaranteed compatible with Intel server platforms and processors," said
Geof Findley, Intel platform memory operations senior manager. "At
Intel, we recognize that energy-efficient technologies are the future
of server computing, and we're committed to supporting DDR3L memory as
we launch future Intel Xeon processors. As enterprise businesses
continue their efforts to maximize IT investments, Intel Xeon
processors, in conjunction with the energy-saving DDR3L 1.35v memory,
deliver a faster return on those investments."
DDR3L is the official name for JEDEC standard DDR3 low-voltage memory,
which operates at voltages of 1.35v, as opposed to the 1.5v used by
standard DDR3. The new DDR3L memory is compatible with legacy DDR3
systems and will also run at 1.5v -- although 1.35v voltages are only
achieved when the overall system supports them. New DDR3L technology
enables an overall memory subsystem power savings of up to 20% over
DDR3, and up to 40% memory subsystem power savings over legacy
DDR2-based servers. The reduction in memory power consumption also
reduces the cooling demands of the overall system. DDR3L memory
provides no-compromise performance compared to DDR3, and considerably
higher throughput in comparison to DDR2.
Crucial energy-efficient DDR3L 1.35v modules are covered by the Crucial
Reliance Program, which includes limited lifetime warranties, dedicated
toll-free support, and the option of an on-site spares program. For
