But I was over at Techpowerup earlier and noticed this announcement.

I will be leaving TPU!
After all the drama in the comments section of our Fermi review, I realized that continuing with hardware reviews and this tech "scene" might not be what I want to do with my time in the future.
So I looked for options out of this mess, and found one, TPU will be operated by a different company in the near future, I will be leaving the site. But fear not, most of the staff will remain here, the site and forums will stay the same in the near future (months). However, I have no idea what's going to change in the long run but I'm sure it will be for the best.
Further info and a more detailed schedule will follow when I have a better idea what will happen with my software projects and other internals of the site.

I don't know if you have a rapport with these guys and I didn't feel like reading 15+ pages of a forum thread to get answer. Any idea what made the freaking site owner decide to abandon ship? To me it sounds like there is more to the story than what is being presented as face value.
I don't know any more than what is written there but I can see people getting burnt out doing reviews non-stop and this past year hasn't exactly been a good one for the tech industry so ad revenues for sites are probably down a fair bit from where they were in the past. There were a bunch of smaller sites that went belly up in 2009. I know Nate has been trying to get more people to help with the site and they haven't exactly been coming out of the woodwork so that may play a part in that too.
I glanced at the first few comments and it looks like he caught alot of flack for using old drivers on the ati cards. Looks like he was using the 9.12 drivers.
That's a good reason to give up a website you created.?.?.?.? Like previously mentioned he just may be burned out with the process and wants to move on and this was a good enough excuse.

It was probably the straw that broke the camels back
Edit: Well if it is April fools he's really laying it thick http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost. ... stcount=91 but I under stand what he is saying. Its pretty much how I felt about engineering when I left it for IT.

Probably would've cried in his **** shaped pillow. Who pulls April Fools jokes other than kids?
EDIT
LOL, I just noticed our avatars are both from Space Balls. Too bad Mel Brooks can't make movies like he did in the 70s. Can you imagine what would happen to him if Blazing Saddles was coming out this year?
