AMD Phenom II X6 1090t & 1055t Black Edition CPU Pre-Order

Post by Apoptosis »

I just got a tip from a reader that you can pre-order the AMD Phenom II X6 1090t Black Edition processor if you call Frys! I called and confirmed this news. It appears that they are coming in tomorrow and the pre-orders will ship then according to the sales agent that I spoke with. They do not have listed on the frys.com website but if you call and ask for product #6219140 you can order it for $299.99 plus shipping. The phone number for Frys is (877)-688-7678. They also have the AMD Phenom II X6 1055t processor for sale at $204 plus shipping, but they don't have an availability date on it yet. Neither processor has been officially announced by AMD, so this is interesting. Could AMD be doing a silent launch with their Phenom II X6 series of processors?

Yes, I ordered one... It was $299.99 plus shipping, so $305.98 total.

The processor features a Turbo Core boost of 400MHz, up from the base clock of 3.2GHz to 3.6GHz when only one core is running at full load.
Other models with lower clocks are able to run up to 500MHz of extra speed and 400MHz when two cores are at full load:

* Phenom II X6 1090T: 3.2GHz / 3.6GHz / 125w
* Phenom II X6 1075T: 3.0GHz / 3.5GHz / 125w (launch later this year)
* Phenom II X6 1055T: 2.8GHz / 3.3GHz / 125w, 95w
* Phenom II X6 1035T: 2.6GHz / 3.1GHz / 95w
* Phenom II X4 960T: 3.0 GHz/ 3.4GHz / 95w

Hopefully it ships for you, and you can get a review posted asap!

Hopefully this isn't just a glitch in Fry's inventory system, showing availability when it isn't really there. I saw that happen more than once in my days at Best Buy.

I stopped by Frys tonight and had an employee punch up the info in his database. Fry's has them in the "back room" but cannot sell them because there is no "street date" listed yet in the computer.

I watched him punch the info in and a price tag of $204 (1055t) and $299 (1090t) is confirmed for the phenom 11 X6. He didn't not know when they would be avail but said since they are this current stage in store, it should be any day now .

I offered/bribed salesman a little extra cash to go dig around in the backroom and sell me one. No luck he wanted to keep his job. He seen my passion for the chip, took my number and offered to call me as soon as it hits the shelf.

quite the appropriate answer
http://products.amd.com/en-us/DesktopCP ... &f12=&f13=
this CPU is OEM only (virtually no packaging, no stock heatsink), as its retail counterpart is the 810. i still dont know why fry's opted to sell the 805 instead of the 810.

amd sure is kicking hte 6 core pretty fast. it's a way for them to make news. unfortunately, they can't really compete with intel at the moment becaue not many apps can run that many thraeds.

The 790 & 890 chip sets will with a BIOS up date. I had a look at my boards BIOS on the web site and Gigabyte has the BIOS for the 6 core up and ready for download.

I had a look at your board and your BIOS is F3F not F3A.
