Rumors are coming from computex 2005 that NVIDIA is currently working on SLI 2. SLI 2 will offer twice the number of PCI Express lanes than the current nForce 4 chipsets. This is like combining two nForce 4 MCPs together to offer 32 PCIe lanes. We have heard from one manufacturer that they are building a ultimate nForce4 board that will offer two x16 slots running each running at full 16 PCIe lanes by using dual nForce 4 MCPs before SLI 2 officially arrives in 2006.
Talk about expensive motherboards...imagine dual chipsets on a highend enthusiast board... I'm guessing $250-$300 for the board alone!
So does this mean four GFX units *drools*?? AGP 8x isn't taxed out bandwidth wise (AFAIK) so what's with the full 32x PCI-E biz? That's 8GB/s upstream and downstream (4GB x 2 for SLI2...)
