HIS 5850

Post by chrhadden »

i have a HIS 5850 video card.i recently experienced an increase in temperature .ok bear with me.i think its because i changed my stock cpu cooler to a corsair h50,and what was once an exaust fan is now an intake for the corsair radiator.i wouldnt worry about it normally, but it went from 29 c to around 38c,and when im gaming it gets up to 50c.are these safe temps?any feed back is greatly appreciated, rock on.im not slamming his,but this card cost more than my cpu and i dont want to fry it :).

dont worry until it hits over 80C, with load under 60C you should consider yourself lucky

i think im just greedy.i did some more research on it and i guess it was due to the fact that i built this rig during the winter.this is my first home made pc.does having your h50 with 2 fans make a signifigant diffrence?

Your temps are great as far as the 5850 goes...Running 2 fans(push pull) on the Corsair H50 makes a difference in temps especially if you turn it around and made it your exhaust and not your intake...But sense your temps seem to be fine no sense in messing with it.....If its not broke, dont fix it... :axe:

How are your cpu temps?Just curious...

Temps seem fine.

If you are itching to do something and have an unused fanslot you can always throw in a couple $10 fans. Or get a case with a side mounted fan like my Antec 300 to cool off the card.

well this case has an 8 in fan thats pointed right at my cpu and vga.its an azza case and it was only 50 bucks.thx for your input btw.it gets pretty hot and humid here in delaware.i guess im just tripping.i have an amd 555 be,i was able to unlock 1 core to make it a 3 core cpu, then i over clocked it ,i was hoping to get 4.0gigs out of it.it runs well at 3.7.i can feel it screaming at me to back off though lol

CPU temps below 40C are great and so are GPU temps below 70, you dont need to do anything

In that case I suggest a $100-150 room air conditioner. Helps with CPU temps, and keeps you from sitting in ball soup.

i just set mine up that way and it did make a difference.my cpu now runs at 28c.and my gpu runs at about 50c.it probably has alot to do with the heat wave we have here.
