Seagate Momentus XT SSD-Hybrid: Now Shipping
Seagate has recently began shipping its Momentus XT hybrid hard drives, these particular drives combine the impressive performance associated with SSDs and the large capacities offered by traditional hard drives, apparently this results in the Momentus XT hard drives being the world’s fastest 2.5-inch laptop PC hard drives.
The Momentus XT hard drives utilize Seagate’s Adaptive Memory technology, which optimizes the drive’s performance by moving frequently used data into the drive’s 4GB of solid state memory.
Apart from the 4GB of solid-state memory and the adaptive memory technology the Momentus XT is pretty much a normal hard disk drive, it features a spindle speed of 7200rpm and capacities of either 250GB, 320GB or 500GB.
Currently U.S. pricing details are unknown, however in India the 250GB Momentus XT will cost Rs 6,800, whilst the 320GB model will cost Rs 7,400 and the 500GB model will set you back Rs 8,100. These prices equate to roughly $144, $157 and $172 respectively, however actual U.S. prices may vary.
