1055T Overclocking Log

okay, thats what I was thinking, but I didn't know if that could be causing a conflict....i dont know if I should start messing with the ram since I'm this close...LOL

Removed 4GB of RAM (2 sticks).
Re-installed the remaining 2 sticks into the 2 matching slots (on my MoBo, they are 2 black slots, slot 3&4---this will put the RAM in 1T).
(stock RAM timings are 8-8-8-24, set to 8-8-8-22)
Started from the beginning....oh boy....LOL
Currently trying to get to 4GHz (which is my initial goal), which I CAN boot into Windows @ 4GHz
Discovered what the Load Line Calibration is (actually throttles the voltage by a percentage), and set that to 0%, to maintain reasonably constant voltage.
Can boot into Windows, can open programs such as CPU-Z. When I start Prime, temps shoot up to 52C/53C. Also, I notice that the screen kinda glitches on startup.
I'm thinking that I need to adjust the voltages DOWN to relieve some of the heat. Would raising NB, while lowering CPUv help this??? Ideas???

Less than 4 minutes. Just went to take a shower and got back, and now got the black screen...time to reset the jumper and start over. LOL....i think i remember MOST of the settings...

thats why i take pictures of the BIOS periodically... then delete them once i have my stable clocks and benchmarking settings and save those pics to disk so i dont lose them

it's very close....at least I can boot into Windows, and its sits idle with no BSOD or crashes....

Temp reaches 53C before throttling the multi to 7.5
These are the settings that I have been changing, and now, got a BSOD. More CPUv??? More NB???? Less on either???? Adjust a different setting???

It seems that Loadline Calibration (aka LLC) is causing your instability issues; in your photos it is set to Auto or at #.###%. Try setting it to Disabled. People with ASUS mobos and have LLC enabled/auto are causing their 45nm CPUs to run unstable. Just so you know, the 1055T IS a 45nm CPU!!

What LLC does is when your CPU voltage becomes higher then 1.3v (or around there) LLC forces the voltages back down to prevent instability or damage to the CPU. This clearly does not help when trying to overclock since you need more voltage to gain stability.

This is also probably why your voltage seems to be a little on the low side when it shows on CPU-Z. It could also be the reason why your multiplier drops to x7.5 when you stress the CPU.

started over from the beginning....LOL...i was having trouble understanding all the terminologies (as I said, I'm Mr. Uber-Noob). so I went back to defaults, because although I ran initial runs of CPU-Z, Core Temp, and Prime, I didn't document them...so: 1)read everything over again. 2)run all baselines and RECORD. 3)read it all again. 4)when i think i got, re-read it again to ensure understanding.

@skier: I missed one of the things you told me from the beginning:

rule #3, disable onboard graphics if applicable because enabled leads to much higher Northbridge temps that can severely limit overclockability

After disabling that, I saw a 6C drop from my earlier OCing @ the same settings.

@lordvic: Thank you! Load Line Calibration set to 0% (my BIOS doesn't have a "disable", only AUTO or a percentage). Set "CPU OverVoltage" to 1.375, and that is what I am seeing in CPU-Z. It still fluctuates slightly when under load, but it fluctuates UP now, not down (1.375-1.402).

Guys, my many continued thanks go out to you for taking the time to help me out!

EDIT: back to the grind, and ran P95 for quick stability, after 14 mins, multi throttled again to 7.5. Back into the BIOS to investigate-maybe something I missed.

EDIT 2: Just a thought: I put my rig under water (Thermaltake Big Water 760i), so theres no CPU fan. I get the warning during post about no fan. Could this be an issue with the throttling? I have CnQ, C1E, Turbo, ACC, and Probe Filter disabled, and in windows i have it set to high performance. Temps (in Core Temp) show 22C idle, tops out @ 45C. Any other ideas?

Do you have any "power saving" settings on? Like...after the certain amount of time idling your computer goes to sleep, shut down your hard drive, etc. My computer lowers it's multiplier down and stays down until I reboot whenever I put it into sleep mode, so have you checked your settings?

I read some posts on the web and people are also getting multiplier and frequency throttling when they run stress tests (like P95 & linx)...some say CnQ can't be turned off on some mobos via BIOS with the 1055T; try turning CnQ off with "AMD Overdrive." You can download it from AMD/ATI's site.

Post some images of all the tabs in your current BIOS settings.

*Also, post some CPU-Z images of these tabs: "CPU", "Memory" , and "SPD" .

@3808MHz
changed my VCore to 1.525v
changed CPU-NB to 1.375v
changed both NB/HT to 2448MHz (from 21xx i forget what exactly)

40min stable since the drop from 1.65v w/1.45v @ 56C currently

Thanks for your work on the 890GPA-UD3H + 1055t combo.
As I have the same setup (allthough I am using the built in graphics card) this thread made it easy to overclock my system.

My setup is watercooling with a big 3 fan radiator and a couple of fans lying on top of the motherboard to keep it cool. I have 8GB cheap crucial memory PC3-10700 (667MHz) and a 60GB SSD corsair force.
Lazy as I am I did not increase the bus speed in small steps, but entered your maximum voltages and your other BIOS tweaks and tried 280 MHz. Which was OK. I was able to do superPI (17.2s) at 290*14 (4060MHz) but I got BOD when running prime95
I did not want to increase the voltages further and it seems my setup has a limit on the FSB around 290 MHz..
I have now backed down to:
FSB: 275 MHz
Multipl. 14x
CPU: 3850MHz
HT: 1925 MHz
NB: 2200 MHz (unganged)
MEM: 733 MHz (10-10-10-27-37-2T)
Voltages:
CPU PLL 2.66
DRAM 1.515
DDR VTT: 0.75
NB: 1.44
Sideport: 1.6
NB/PCIe/PLL 1.89
CPU NB VID: (+0.2) 1.35
CPU: (+0.15) 1.5

It has now been running stable for an hour with prime95 and I am happy with that.
The CPU temperature (from easytune6) is 28 degrees idle and 43 degrees load.
Video editing is going to be a breeze now.
