It looks like I am going to build my brother a new computer. The max he can spend is $1000 with shipping and tax upfront. Gaming will be the only power hungry task it will need to do. I am thinking right now about getting a 3.4ghz Phenom II 965, 870 mobo, 4gb ram, 1gb GTX 460, 1tb HDD, Antec 300 case with Antec 520 watt PSU and Windows 7 64bit.
What would you guys change if anything?

Have you looked at Amazon, Directron, or Tigerdirect? Save you from having to pay tax on most of that stuff.
Also do you know anyone attending a 4 year college? If so you can most likely get them to pick you up a copy of Windows 7 for under $20.

Good call on Amazon. Pricing it out now and it looks like it might save $50.

One other thing to keep in mind, keep an eye out for deals at Fry's.

Don't know if there is a Microcenter in your neck of the woods but they aren't half bad either.
