ATI R520 AGP cancelled

Post by kenc51 »

The Inquirer wrote:WE SAW some earlier roadmaps that were implying that ATI plans to do R520, Radeon X1800 in AGP variation but it turns out that the company dropped its original plan.
PCIe is picking up so fast that ATI realised that not that many people will go for AGP version of the card, or that's what appears to be the logic. Radeon X850 XT PE will remain the fastest Radeon and for all of you who were planning to plug new AGP R520 card in your AG setup this will come as a cold shower on a cold morning. Yes, you will need to replace your beloved motherboard as well if you want to go R520.

Time to go PCie I think....

I thought ATI was going to be the one company that left one more generation of cards for us AGPers, but apparently not...if they did I might have switched from nV but not anymore.

Damn, yeah, I figured the same thing. Guess that's prettymuch the last straw! PCI-Express or bust! lol

Was bound to happen sooner or later though. I guess it was just sooner!

I guess I'm forced to buy everything new next time around again! :P Oh well... I'd rather have high end stuff anyway... well high end for a couple weeks 'til something better comes out!

A year from now, I'm going to have GeForce 8xxx or whatever, in SLi and two DC AMD processors, cause I am going to replace my current rig every year if I can afford it...will work 50hr weeks to make sure I can at least buy the stuff. I have a high end PC, I just spend so much time working for the next one that I don't use this one. LOL.
