Gray Screen, i am sick of it
can some one help me check what the cause of Gray Screen for my 1 month old pc?
i am using Asus M4A79XTD EVO Motherboard bio 2102, AMD 1090T Black, G-SKILL 1600 Ram
in Bio default for everything...Random "WhiteScreen", memory test pass, and Asus Overdrive test for CPU Pass,

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
So you are running a one month old install of Windows 7... I'm guessing you have done the basics like update the BIOS and all of the system drivers. I'm also guess you did a memory test as well.
Does it do it randomly or does it blue screen when you do a certain task?
Is the system overclocked or at default BIOS settings?

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
thank you for your fast reply it is at default for cpu and Motherboard, and everything is updated, motherboard i use asus provided drivers on their site. graphic card is HD 5870, and i use AMD driver from its site.
i use Blue screen View and it says the cause is "ntoskrnl.exe + 322493" ,
it happens sometime when i pay game "AION", watch movies, sometime i download file online and it blue screen. also moment ago when i open device manger, and click "+" to list the drivers and it gave me whitescreen and auto restart, so i try again and it didnt happen.
it is random, it happens after 30mins, or few hours

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
use G-skill 2x2gb, and i swap it with my other new pc, and nothing wrong. i think it is the motherboard, hopefully they can give me a replacement
Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
Did you recently upgrade the motherboard or video card? If it was the motherboard did you do a fresh install of windows.
Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
have you verified voltage/frequency/timing on your RAM is at spec?

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
Are you running one of the advanced speed profiles with your installed RAM? Personally I've encountered nothing but issues with the enhanced profiles and stick with the tried and true play with the timings until it's stable.
If you think it's your board have you checked for a BIOS update? Sometimes the BIOS updates address stability issues (be it RAM, video card, peripherals, etc...).

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
Have you been on any of the Asus support forums? Have you contacted Asus customer support while under warranty?

Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
i am going to rma the motherboard, everything in bio is default
Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
Are you running the latest BIOS? Maybe the BIOS you have now doesn't have official support for the 1090T processor.
Re: Blue Screen, i am sick of it
Just last week I saw a video card cause BSOD's on a customer's computer.
It was an older ATI card of some flavor. I can't remember which model it was.
My personal computer was randomly white screening, pinstripe screening, and black screening a few weeks ago.
Once again ... video card.
Mine was a 5770.

Re: Gray Screen, i am sick of it
Asus sent me back the same motherboard, nothing change, i still get the Gray Screen. People says it is the video card (HD 5800 series) but i switch with my other newly build pc intel i5 (same card) and intel pc does not have any screen problem. so would you guys think it is the power supply (when pc is turn off, i can hear buzz sound, if i disconnect the power cable to the Motherboard or unplug the power no buzz sound. i am going to try to swap the power supply with intel build.
Windows 7 says it is blue screen problem lol but it is the gray screen
so far, memory cards, video card swapped with my intel build, but nothing wrong in my intel build.

Well, if the support is that bad, why oh why do people buy a product from them.
