GLOBALFOUNDRIES Honored for Workplace Health with Singapore HEALTH Awards

SINGAPORE, December 20, 2010 – GLOBALFOUNDRIES received four awards from Singapore HEALTH Awards 2010, organized by Health Promotion Board of Singapore. This national award recognizes public and private organizations with commendable workplace health programs that promote good health for their employees in the workplace.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ Fabs 2, 3 and 6 were recognized with platinum awards, the highest honors given; and Fab 5 received a gold award. This achievement can be attributed to the company’s longstanding commitment to encouraging its workforce to stay healthy and fit with a sustainable workplace health program that is supported by a dedicated team of employees who received special training to promote workplace health throughout the organization.

The four fabrication facilities are located at the GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ campus at Woodlands Industrial Park. In Singapore, GLOBALFOUNDRIES employs 7,500 people and features a comprehensive wellness and health program that is designed with preventive measures, restoration, and strengthening of health and productivity in mind. For example, GLOBALFOUNDRIES offers programs that address prevention of chronic disease, weight management, back and neck care, acupressure, among others. A group of health champions and coaches are appointed to promote healthy lifestyles for the employees. In addition, GLOBALFOUNDRIES’ Woodlands campus offers health resources like health-monitoring equipment for measuring blood pressure, body fat & body mass index (BMI), and gym facilities.

GLOBALFOUNDRIES Singapore, then Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing, introduced a workplace health program in 2005, and the company won Singapore HEALTH Awards in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Since the program began, the company has seen a noticeable decline in absenteeism, while participation in the company’s wellness and health program continues to increase.
