The ASUS A8V is one of the better looking 939 pin boards that we have on hand and when you see the AMD 939 pins hit the market rest assured that we will initially using this board with its mature drivers for testing. The ASUS A8V offers great features, but the best has to be the PCI based Wi-Fi 802.11g card.

The first performance benchmarks with the new Athlon 64/64FX (socket 939) will answer our questions soon as to how much better the 939pin CPU's will be over the 754's and 940's. Stay tuned we are close!

Testing out very nicely. Wish I could post up some numbers for you guys, but the CPU's are still "secret"...

keep an eye on the pci/agp lock, thats one thing that people want to make sure is in place.

I'm using the latest BIOS version 1003 for the A8V and there is no AGP lock on this version.

Testing is 100% complete and the board seems very nice. Since BIOS 1003 doesn't have an AGP lock my Overclocking is hamperd, but the board is still good.

It's a shame that ASUS doesn't have the AGP locked yet on this board as the K8T800 Pro is able to have a locked PCI/AGP bus

Between this and amd's 939 pricing they just priced me right out of an amd64 looks like the cheapest s939 is going to be $400 and there is no way in hell im paying that much for dual channal memory and 32 more bits my OS cant even use. So sadly it looks like i will not be upgrading my current system any time in the near future.

looks very nice, but i dont think i will be upgrading to ANYTHING soon until PCI-E, DDR2 and all the other techs mature, theres just too much going on right now to have a good upgrade.... maybe next year when intel release their dual cored P5's....

Whith your set up you most likly will not have to. You may end up with a new video card in a year but AGP is not going anywhere quite yet.
