Help with strange ATI AIW 9700 PRO issue

Post by jkb242 »

This happens only on channel 62 with the card connected to cable TV.

The problem is that the audio will abrubtly increase (approaximately 6dB) for approximately 200ms then retun to normal. This happens continuously and completely at random when listening to channel 62 or recording a program using the personal video recorder. I have owned a 8500DV AIW which never exhibited this problem. Channel 62 here is the History Channel. This will continue throughout any length of viewing or recording ONLY on this channel and is ruining the video archive I am trying to make.

NOTHING is running in the back ground.

Has anyone encountered this before? Can someone who owns this card check CH 62 on thier cable system to see if you notice the same issue?

Suggestions to fix??

maybe a possible driver issue? I dunno. I never actually used the TV part of it. kinda sux. I bought the AIW for the TV part...then got a nice TV for free...kinda lost the need for the AIW...ooh well.

I have noticed that some channels are just hotter or quieter than others, dont know if that helps any. other than that all my channels sound fine on my AIW.

Can you try channel 62 to see if you get the same results as me?

yeah, if it does it on a regular TV through your cable box, there could be problems with noise in the coax cable, or the channel transmission could be a little flawed.
