I emailed Gigabyte with a motherboard concept. I told them I would tell them if they wanted to hear it. But after the initial email they never got back to me. Oh well, guess I'll try ASRock now. Since they seem to be willing to try new things.

what's the concept?

You got to understand these companies work with thousands of review sites and blogs on a daily basis. The board designers are in China and Taiwan anyway, so the person you'll e-mail wouldn't be a board designer anyway. These companies also don't pay for ideas, so if it's a royalty you are after it won't happen. The only thing you could do is patent the idea and then try to license or sell that.

Integrate a battery backup that can sit in an empty 5.25 bay. Have it hooked to the motherboard where you have long enough to power down the machine. Seems pretty easy. Don't know why no one has attempted this before. Where I live we have some crappy power. Depending on the day the power can flicker for a second up to 10 times, sometimes the machine goes down sometimes it weathers the storm.

Think acrylic 5.25 reservoir but a battery backup.

Didn't want any compensation. Only want to give the idea to see if what they thought. But they acted like they didn't want to hear it. Sometimes the best ideas come from outside a company. I know that was the case with the last place I worked. If everyone is focused on the product at hand it's easy to develop a form a tunnel vision that stifles creativity.

The only company that came close to releasing a board with a battery was ASUS when they showed off the Marine Cool prototype back in 2009 - http://www.legitreviews.com/article/922/1/
