what is the max
what is the max
what is the max stable overclocking for a phenom 2 x4 black edition with the stock heat sink as of now idle temp is 40 degree C i was thinking like 3.7
Re: what is the max
I have a 965 with just slightly better than stock cooling and I haven't been able to get mine above 3.7 stable. Mind you I'm also fairly new to overclocking so take this information for what its worth.

Re: what is the max
it is kind of hard to say. 40C idling is starting to get up there, but really and truly we need to know what the full load temp is. Locate LynX and run it and then see what your full load temp is. But I suggest that before you start overclocking your CPU, is that you go out and get a better heatsink first.

Re: what is the max
depends on the CPU and motherboard, but usually 4GHz is easy on a black edition.
just download coretemp to watch temps and make sure you stay in the 50s or lower, C
