How to determine AMD processor type?

Post by TX_Renegade »

I'm trying to find out how to determine the type (for lack of a better word) of AMD 64 3500+ processor I have. I found a post asking the difference between Winchester vs Venice but haven't been able to find out how you actually determine which one your processor is. I need this info to help get drivers from the mobo site.

Thanks in advance.
Thx,

Assuming it's installed in your computer, go get CPU-Z from http://www.cpuid.com. It'll tell you what version your processor is (along with a slew of other info). What you want is labeled as the "Code Name". I don't know why you would need this information in order to get drivers though, as they shouldn't be processor revision specific.

Thx heretic. I'm not sure why they need it either but they do. Good ol Abit.

**Edit** Downloaded CPU_Z and found out I have the Venice. Thx.
