that's as maybe but SSE4.1 or 4.a for AMD has been around longer than V7 why it wasn't used is a mysteryTator Tot wrote:V7 was made before AMD's Bulldozer parts were out; so it doesn't have SSE 4.2 added in yet.

Because SSE4.1 & 4a have no unison between one another. AMD & Intel could not originally agree on the SSE4 Spec, so they both did it in their own way.

It all boils down to price. Whatever platform one chooses, it all depends on the programs being used. Let's get to the chain effect. Your rig is only as good as it's weakest link. I don't think that the cpu in any rig is the weakest link in any rig for the price point that which it is built or bought. You get what you pay for in most cases. I think it's most important to have components that can last and have a good warranty. I think that the best upgrade right now is a SSD.

I'd like to say that I think pretty much everyone is benchmarking these multicore processors incorrectly.
While seeing how a processor runs one threaded application, I think we're missing out on how power users really use their systems, say they'll fire up Handbrake AND a game, or fire up a game while having some active VM's.
Would it be possible to benchmark some more real world scenarios?
Thanks!
