ClamWin Free Antivirus?

Post by unfaithfulsfan »

Anyone know yea/nay about this product? I've got a Win2K machine and a Win98 (don't know whether it's SE as I haven't yet booted it) and this AV was a top return on a Google search.

Thanks!

It's lightweight and doesn't use much resources. I don't know how well the active protection works though. The nice thing about the program is it's all open source. Meaning there are tons of people probably working on the app.

I had it on my Portable app drive, like Major A says, its lightweight, free, does a decent job.

Ran it this morning. Didn't find anything other than files it could not open. Seemed to take care of the problem with IE5 that killed the browser on start. Actually, I fudged up, forgot what I was doing and "cleaned house" in WINNT/System32 which also could have had the same desired result, I guess, as there were about a dozen PerfStringBackup.ini's for 3/6/2006 and nothing else since other than a DOC file with today's date. oops! 8-[

That's what happens when you black out on a Friday night and remain so until nearly midnight the following Sunday. Still feeling a little shaky...

Thanks again for the help, guys!
