That uis kind of the point i was trying to make. Reminds me of the whole Ehedra thing last year.....Congress had to hold hearings, the media had to make a big deal; about it.......but one thing they never brought up was the fact that since 1984, less than 110 people have died from taking the supplement........far fewer than die from Alcohol, Tobacco, or many other things.....but then again, Ephedra makers are huge campaign contributors either.

I swear, I hate left-wing politics  ...you hit the nail on the head cap, and it sucks you got robbed man, thus reinforces the message that guns and perhaps nice bludgeoning weapons and a tazer would be good to keep around the house, not to mention homemade Napalm and a match. Yes, I'm a sick mf'er, but if a dude strung out on PCP, crack, or any sort of opiate has to be brought down before you're brought down. From what I understand, people on PCP can't feel pain, so if you shoot them (except in the head, I think that brings them down quick) they will keep coming. Sooo, and this is only if you're outside away from the house, throw some Napalm on the idiot and light him, he'll go down. Sorry, I almost got robbed myself last winter when I was bringing some DVD's home, but thankfully I had a small utility knife on my keychain, and I thrust it in his gut and started ripping.....needless to say, he limped off bleeding, and no one else has bothered my house. Now someone stole something that belonged to my stepdad, but that's his fault for not keeping it at his place where crime is significantly lower (yes, just a mere 15-mile buffer between my house and his can keep crime out, it's also a good part of town). A lot of people have told me I'm sick in the head, but some people you can't bring down by ordinary means need to go down before they get to you, because they're not gonna stop until they get what they want and send you to hell as well!

guess we all hate something though....btw, just because someone leans a certain way slightly doesn't mean they are that, you understand this, right? I stick to my guns when it comes to voting for what I think to be right, and not for party politics and ideals that are crumbling away like so much old insulation from an overhead insert in an old vehicle.

lol, whoever thought the two would go together?

So, here's the priority listing for where my hard-earned greenback will go:

Bills (any bill like food, utilities, etc)
Computer Hardware
Digital Camera (or I might just have to hit my parents up at Christmas, lol)

and in the future:

A Decent Firearm (.357 Desert Eagle, anyone? Maybe something different if it's rare)

At least the priorities are straight....oh yeah, forgot the beer budget too, lol

I don't know where this got so off track.

My post was just questioning where the desire to get an assault weapon comes from. Obviously collector's have their own reasons, I personally am a big fan of the old time Tommy gun's and would love to have one.

From a collector's standpoint I understand, but from a protection standpoint- an ak is not much better than any handgun if you're worried about a common criminal breaking and entering or something. A shotgun is even more than enough if the glock doesn't do it for you.

So from all that the only other argument I heard was increasing the difficulty of a foreign nation invading. Frankly, if you think we would be invaded by land like that then you're an idiot, not trying to be crude but- we live in a nuclear age, countries with nukes can't be invaded. We are far more likely to experience nuclear winter long before any other nation sets foot in our territory over war. And due to mutual assured destruction, the nuclear risk is downplayed to the point that terrorism is the only risk to national security.

An ak isn't going to protect you from a suicide bomber.

And to be clear about my personal beliefs- I agree that regulation of weapons is pretty pointless and affects liberties of most of us. If I said I was fascinated with bombs and blowing things up, I would be viewed negatively and even be questioned as a terrorist. However, apparently the desire for an ak is not judged by the same standards. To me the desire to strap some c4 and blow the **** out of a monitor is just as satisfying if not more than blowing holes in it with an AK. But ultimately I don't understand why- I mean, the AK is my favorite weapon in a video game- but why would I want to pay alot of money to own one, unless I'm solely collecting.

Let's not kid ourselves, guns don't kill people- people kill people. But guns are designed to be used to kill. While hunting rifles and shotguns can be used for hunting, they are valid under the idea that they're tools that can be used.

A thing is only a tool as much as you recognize its purpose. An AK isn't designed to blow holes in shitty CRT monitors, it is designed to kill people- fair and simple. Not to kill animals or anything else, but to kill people. You can use it in other ways- but it's not the same kind of tool as a shotgun or a hunting rifle.

I think the same kind of logic can be applied to knives. Knives are tools with different purposes. A bowie can be used for all kinds of outdoorsman utilities. However, if your mother is looking for a new knife to use for cooking- it doesn't make sense for her to by a Bowie when she is using it for kitchen use only. Sure, it works for kitchen use- but that's not what the knife was designed for.

You guys are trying to pass off an AK as domestic protection, when its purpose is war.

I don't know what the rush is honestly, maybe I need to fire an AK to know- as I said, for me- I'd love to get a six shooter and shoot the **** out of one of my retired printers.

Stress relief. But how is the ak any better at doing this, except it being alot more expensive and alot more dangerous?

Didn't mean to start a guns debate. I apparently argue with liberals over why guns should be legal, then argue with conservatives on why there is no point in owning assault weapons.

I don't want to say thats an ignorant statement, but it seems to show someone who has very little experience with firearms.....every weapon is a means for war, it just comes down to what the person possessing it intends to use it for

"Assault weapon" is probably the most misused term when it comes to weapons.....like computer hardware, weapons can be modified and changed from their orginal design and intention....filing down sears, removing plugs from shotguns to add extra rounds, extending magazines, sawing off barrels or butt stocks....The only weapon i have an issue with is a fully automatic weapon, which is illegal without a special permit.....thats the only weapon that serves no purpose outside of combat...as it is a suppressive weapon.
