Bonus is in soooo a GTX 680 or an AMD 7970?

Post by DX »

I'm just not sure what one to get. I know both are great for gaming but I was going to let the Folding@Home be the tie breaker here. However there isn't a working folding client for the GTX 680 yet. I'm leaning toward the GTX 680 but I can't seem to find any in stock any where. Then there is the proven 7970 in stock and fast......

What do you guys think?

GTX680, faster, cheaper, about equal power usage. But can you find one? Not likely.

But maybe here:

Says 3-5 days on shipping, but its a PNY brand, not sure about that brand.

Not to mention that this 7970 is basically maxed out (referring to the MSI card Nate just reviewed). The 680 has more headroom for OC'ing and factory OC'd cards.

Personally, I'm still debating if I need/want a 680. I ordered one on launch day, it came in on tuesday and it's still sitting in the box. Honestly debating about throwing it up on ebay, my gtx 570 is doing just fine. Don't get to game much anymore these days anyway

Well so far it seems that the GTX 680 is the way to go. But yeah so far I've found a few snowballs here in Hell but no GTX 680s.

Well bug XstollieX to sell you his :)

If you have the money, I would go 680 also. If you want to save, grab the 560 or 570.

I have got it up and running. I just had time to pop into a few games to see how it runs and that was it last night. But from what I have seen so far it runs really nice I can't wait though to see how the new drivers work with it. I did notice some stuttering in DDO that the beta drivers from the 9th I think are supposed to fix that.
