Thermal paste- what do you think?

Post by DJ Tucker »

Just thought i'd see what thermal paste everyone prefers/what they swear by. i have used many pastes like:

OCZ Freeze CPU 51c GPU 62c
AS5 CPU 49c GPU 60c
Arctic MX-4 CPU 47c GPU 59c
Unknown Brand Silicon CPU 55c GPU 65c

Arctic MX-4 i swear by as i get the lower cpu and gpu load temps with it. and just to make sure i re-applied each 3 times and tested at room temp 19c.

Always achieved best temps with Zalman's STG1. With my 940 clocked at 3.57GHz only time have seen it hit 51C was during a Prime95 session. Artic Silver5 would peek at 54C. Those are the only two compunds have ever used.

Have you ever tried Shin-Etsu?

I use a bunch of theirs on builds i do.

Personally, I've been using Gelid GC-Extreme on my builds :) - http://www.gelidsolutions.com/products/ ... id=3&id=42

It's pretty good stuff.

GC Extreme for me.

Used MX2 and MX4 in the past. Think the sun has set on AS5.

I think it would be either Arctic MX-4 or Arctic Silver 5. They are both great thermal paste and good temperature at all time. :drinkers:

I'll be honest I'm too lazy to use the pastes. I have always bought a motherboard with the processor and heatsink installed.

Judging by the data, arctic mx-4 would be the best :ANAL:
