U.S. Patent Granted to O2Micro for BMS Protection Invention
GEORGE TOWN, Grand Cayman, Aug. 8, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- O2Micro(R)
International Limited (Nasdaq:OIIM), a global leader in the design,
development and marketing of high-performance integrated circuits and
solutions, today announced that it was issued 20 claims under United
States patent number 8,219,333 for its Battery Management System (BMS)
Protection invention.

This patented next generation fault protection system detects battery
cell voltages, currents, and temperatures to perform protective actions
if a fault condition occurs. A fault condition is an over-voltage,
over-current, over-temperature, or short circuit.

"O2Micro's BMS invention ensures that protective actions are performed
timely, avoiding damage to the battery pack," said Bill Densham,
strategic marketing director at O2Micro.
