EXCLUSIVE: Corsair Launches XMS XL memory

Post by Apoptosis »

I'm glad to be the first on the net to get my hands on Corsiar's new XL memory. This stuff is really sweet and I am currently writing up the final review on this new product. If you want a teaser I posted the first photos and benchmarks of Corsair's XL memory line up this morning.

Image

memory performance is awesome across the board on the new XMS 3200XL module! Look at these timings:

DDR400: 2-2-2-5
DDR500: 2.5-3-3-6

LOW TIMINGS ARE BACK!

:prayer: :prayer: :prayer:
The modules that we have on the test bench are labeled CMX512-3200XL. These modules are rated at 2-2-2-5 timings at 2.7 Volts.
That is sweet, but the fact that you ran them at DDR500 at 2.5-3-3-6 is amazing. I can't wait to read your full review on the XMS XL memory later this week!

Looks like some good memory!

It's about time they got their timings back down after their last spec change on their other PC3200............ :twisted:

Low timings dont mean as much as they did, especially considering P4's.
DDR-II timings are huge, 4/4/4... something, the only systesm that could take advantage of them are Athlons and they rarley reach 250FSB.

There are more and m ore people hitting 250 FSB with AMD XP-M's these days using nForce 2 boards..........The DFIs seem to be doing it all the time now with good cooling........... :shock:

I can hit 240-250FSB on my DFI Lan Party Ultra B mobo with my unlocked Athlon XP 2500+.

I notice a large performance increase at DDR500 on an i875P chipset. 2.5-3-3-6 gets better scores than 3-4-4-8

i dont mean to drag this out, but that difference can be made up with 3Mhz extra FSB... its been tested and done...

Im not saying it doesnt increase performance, it does but not as much as it does on AMD systems.

these look like pretty mean modules. if they do as well as I expect them to in the first round of tests I'll definitely spring for a set.

Damn Apo, how'd you get these before they even announced it? Looks like Corsair doesn't mess around.

nice review guys :)

would of liked to have seen benchies @ DDR400 for 2-2-2-5 vs 2-2-2-6 as it seems 2-2-2-6 on P4 does provide a bit more bandwidth

and what's with the the 4th model number on corsair ram always being misprinted ?

XMS3200C2 -> label XMS3202C2
XMS3200XL -> label XMS3208 ??

Eva...

You know better bro.. It's not a "review" as the first post in this thread states:
