Re: Raspberry PI
I'd want one but I don't have the hardware or software skills to fully utilize it. Search some Youtube videos of what people have done with the Rasberry Pi, very cool stuff. If you would rather have an Android OS to play with there are a ton of USB stick Android devices for sale.
Re: Raspberry PI
I will say that if it wasn't about £40 I wouldn't be thinking about it as I'm not at that sort of level.
But as it is so cheap, I am considering one.

Re: Raspberry PI
It's pretty awesome, but I agree it is over the heads of most folks and I'm shocked they sold a million of them.
The Cotton Candy by FXI is an interesting product, but it is $199.00 - http://store.cstick.com/

Re: Raspberry PI
I want to get one and run it as s firewall & bit torrent box. you can buy them pre assembled in a case and there's a few Linux distrs out for it, including Arch
its not just for learning programming on.

Re: Raspberry PI
That is a bit on the expensive side.
I was thinking of getting one for learning to program and learn a bit about Linux.
It does hold the advantage of being so cheap as well once you have all the bits after the first major purchase, if things go wrong it's just another £35 (or £15 if it's the SD card).
But I think to be honest I will end up getting one in the next month or so. Having a look around online, it does seem to be the more enjoyable way to learn programming and other things.

Re: Raspberry PI
These are obviously shipping from the Far East so change your location but here's cheaper alternatives to CottonCandy.

Re: Raspberry PI
Not sure I would use it as a media server.
Though I have just thought of the first project I could look into. Hooking up some more RAM somehow.

Re: Raspberry PI
Well ... media server ... you got to be nuts.
As for the RAM part ... yeah "somehow"

Re: Raspberry PI
Well the media server can be done with 2 of these (there is a blog about it somewhere online)
And that is what I will be working out how to do as well as the RAM.
