I used the driver cleaner pro, and i still didnt get a chance to open the case up and see if the fan is spinning not to mention cleaning the dust, ill also take it out of the pci-e slot and run some compressed air on it.

I got an antec smart power 500w for psu, and all the power conntectors connected.

oh yeah, dust is only one of the biggest killers of PC's, besides excessive heat and ESD......dust can hold ESD, and could be causing either a bad connection on some pins on the slot or card, or could be having some sort of capacitive effect, causing a short. blowing it out might help...and yeah making sure the fan's spinning would be nice too, lol

as for the PSU, it sounds fine for what you have, I would stick with it......are your voltages remaining pretty stable? I think you should be fine there if they are.

see if you can run the fan off the motherboard fan header?

Or just send it back!

Well well, it was a simple issue it would seem so far.....good deal, just try what Ken said, RMA is a good way to go if you bought it from a place like Newegg, who has a good RMA policy.

yeah but i gotto talk with them, see if i can get a different product. Like an x800 xl from a different manufactuer, or downgrade to a saphire x800gto2. Because if they send me another x800xl chances are the same thing will happen. sigh.

who did you get the card from btw? The GTO2 will be an awesome card for ya I think.....they "guarantee" that with ATItool and a little time, you can unlock the other 4 pipes and the card can OC to XT PE limits, which I happen to like as well. Never hurts to ask right :)

Yeah, you're in good hands with em, I would definitely ask them if they will let you trade up to something comparable, one thing though, I'm not sure if they allow an RMA if it's out of their return policy but still in manfacturer's warranty....if that's true you might need to take it to the manufacturer to get it replaced.

nice to see my topic's still alive (albeit for other purposes) :)

Looks like the PowerColor X800GTO also isn't available anymore ](*,)
I've been offered the MSI RX850Pro-VTD256 now...i'll have a look around what the reviews are. Any experiences from you guys?

OMFG this **** is driving me crazy, one after the other they disappear it seems. The MSI card isn't available anymore as well! :axe:
I'll give it one more shot, i've found the Sapphire Radeon Atlantis X850Pro ViVo for a reasonable price.

x800 gto from connect3d

Post by dgood »

I know the c3d x800 gto has good oc potential, I have one my self modded to 16pp and an overclock of 170mhz on the core to 570 and a overclock to 1100mhz on the memory is what I got using ati tool 25.10 beta. however before all of this and after I still can't run 3d mark 05 or ut2004, they both hang. however it does oc well and I've not seen anyone else have the problems I have had with teh games. I think it could be my mobo and my other hardware not being compatable. still unsure though, I've used every driver out there. yes, the card is moddable i've seen very few people say it hasn't worked. I have the 423 core also and its got those from oc and is very stable in that case for all games and apps but the ones mentioned above.

I sent the card out and was without a pc :( tried hooking up my old 650mhtz machine but the motherboard got messed up. Lucky my dad found a PC outside, an xp 1800+ 256mb memory and an abit board that beats my old ECS away. I'm sort of suprised people would throw away things like that. I wouldn't even throw away my 650mhtz one...

I'm really disliking newegg now. First for not letting me get a different x800xl card and now that they got the card for 3 days and still haven't opened and verified it. sigh.

Update: New Egg is giving me a refund ( they don't have the exact card i ordered, they got a HIS x800xl but with the numbering is different [ i had one with 6 in the serial, and they only got one with 4])

So I'm getting 290 back, pretty good.

Im going to order an x800 gto2 for 219 ( 199 after rebate )
and for the cash left over im buying a Logitech g5 and a cooler ( cant decicde bewteen artic silencer and Zalman )

I'm really impressed with Newegg. :P

Sweet......
You prob know you can mod the gto2 to an x850?
I'd go for the arctic cooler, it exausts the heat out of the case, and both perform the same otherwise....

I finally got the GTO2, now I've just got to figure out how to make a bootable cd and put the flashing tool on it, I ordered the arctic cooler, hopefully it comes soon.
