killswitch83 wrote:personally, since I'm a wuss and like to stay on the safe side, lol, I think no more than 10% of stock voltage, which would put you at 1.7v. I've also heard that you should keep your max temp at or under 65C.....really it's which ever you feel comfortable with. I'm pretty sure someone else will chime in with something different, but this is what I've been hearing a lot of. How's those Toledo's treating you btw? :)
My stock vcore is only 1.35v!!
This chip just won't play good.... ](*,)
Yesterday afternoon, I had it upto 2.7 and running 2x prime95 for 4hrs then fails, using 1.55v....this shows 1.49v in windows, I set 1.55v + 104% vcore with givwes me 1.55v in windows, but fails @ 2.6GHz????
I have my BH5 ram on 180MHz devider, so currently @ HTT = 236MHz and ram @ 200Mhz (1.5-2-2-5-8 8) ) --> I have set the ram to lower dividers and even used different bios's with TCCD and BH5....

I need Capper or Infinite to jump in here, Infinite, you got 2.7 out of you 3800? what vcore did you use???
I may have a crappy chip or the 2mb of cache is holding me back?

My temps are now @ 37C with dual prime95 so no worries there!

This is really getting to me now....I know core1 is the bad one, core0 is fine... If someone can say 1.6v is fine, then away i go, otherwise I think 2~2.6Ghz is gonna be my max!

Well, did you try 1.6v? I'd say 1.6v is your absolute max for 24/7 useage, but you can at least test at 1.6v to see if it would even make a difference...

running @ 1.62v now.....2.7GHz
ram on 180MHz divider = 209MHz @ 1.5-2-2-5
dual prime stable for now.....only running 1hr or so (fingers crossed)

My temps have shot up!!! 1.55v gets me to 2.6GHz and temps are ~37c-40c
Now with 1.62v and 2.7 my temps have gone up to 47c....

I think 2.6GHz will be my 24/7 limit....But I'll try re-applying the waterblock, yet another bios and so-on.....haven't given up yet!

I'll post some 3dmark 05 results, but no real benchies till i find the max this cpu will do, and the best ram combo i can find (may take a while)

Bummer dude.
2.6 is still pretty good, that's like having two FX-55's!

I'm a big fan of the Platunum rev.2 though

Sweet. Try the evercool VC-RE to replace your chipset fan. Fits nice and it's quiet. Best of all, it does a better job of cooling. My chipset temps are now 40c at load. I think they are like $7 at jab-tech.

Cheers, But I can't source that anywhere local.....$7 is a grea price, but with shipping....I'd be better off getting a waterblock for ~€40.....

Does anyone know where to get a Evercool VC-RE in Ireland(yeah right) or the UK...even western Europe?????

Thanx.....BUT just found out It's not in-stock till the 15th :( (he won't wait a week!! -> mayby I should say there is a prob with the supplier and delay his pc? an extra week wouldn't matter much --> too cruel LOL)
I'm building a pc for a mate, I said I'd give him my SLI-DR board for ~€130 (only 1mth old)....The problem is he wants to order now or tomorrow........So I'll gave to stick with the "standard" DFI board :(
That means I have to keep hearing the Chipset fan :(

I was thinking of getting him a "EPoX EP-9NPAJ" board....He's NOT into overclocking or SLI so this board should do....He can still OC if he wants

Look here
This is prob where I'll buy from, anyone notice any real bargains????

His setup will be (total to spend ~€1500 tops)
EPoX EP-9NPAJ
7800GT
X2 3800+
2x 1GB ram -> nothing fancy (he can use a divider if needed)
FSP blue storm 500W PSU
Antec P180 case
HDD/DVD etc. => transplanted from old pc
19" TFT --> unsure which to get either (budget only goes to ~€350)

Well, I don't know the conversion rate for those prices and don't really feel like taking the time to think about it that much. But can say that I defiantely approve of that setup for your friend. There really isn't much I would change. I do, however question EPoX's customer service. I heard of at least one person who was having problems dealing with the company for repair or RMA or something like that. So that might be something to keep in mind. On the other hand, I have had awesome conistancy, stability and customer service from my Chaintech VNF4 Ultra, and it's a low priced board. I would look into the VNF4 Ultra too and see if it is a contendor. Just a suggestion :)

customer service means nothing when your from Ireland....I never deal with companies directly....Just goto who I bought it from LOL (the seller has to honour the warranty!)

Even my DFI board explicity says no suppoort....deal with the shop not them.....your lucky in the US as all companies have offices over there..../

I like Epox as they are stable and fast without the need to tweak.....The guy who will be using this hasn't a clue !!!

He's big into photoshop so WANTS 2GB (1GB should be enough)....I told him any standard GFX card will do.....yet he wants a 7800GT.....such a waste as he will prob never get the full use from it!!

HAHAHA, I guess so! Well, that should be one hell of a Photoshop rig!!! He should have saved himself on the video card and invested that money into an X24400 with the extra cache. Maybe it's not too late to change his mind. Tell him to get the 6600GT and X2 4400 instead of the 7800GT and X2 3800. That's my suggestion. Hell, even a vanilla 6600 would work.

Yeah...I told him...But he was looking @ toms hardware, they compaired a bunch of cards, and showed a pic of each, He thinks the GTX512 looks great, but the price changed his mind.....I had to talk him down from a GTX.....

Mayby I'll talk him into getting a GTX, I can then give him my x300se
Then I can go SLI baby.....LOL
He won't notice the difference between them? :P

My plan is to avoid him tomorrow(alread made it through 2day).
Then on Monday, he will ask me to order his parts, the Expert board is due in next week, so I can get that for myself.
Remember he will be getting a brand new Lanparty SLI-DR for 130!!!! So he 's the one who's getting a bargain!

BTW & $ are the same!!! exchange rates are minimal!

Ps. I want that expert board! It won't make my system any faster, but I also wanted 2x 1mb cache etc. Why stop now? LOL (I always do this, go for biggest and best, even when i know I don't need it! --> Sure is Christmas..)
