Idle I'm at around 52, but at full load it creeps up to 72-73... the highest I've seen is 75 on that card. Heat doesn't seem to be the problem, though.

I know that with the zalman cooler I'd hit 55-60 at full load, but I need confirmation that the cooler would let me get to 600 on the core at least, or even let me pump up the voltage IN ANY WAY. The crazy thing is that when I set the voltage to 1.3 without gaming, the temp stays the exact same...

Idk, such a hassle for an extra 10 percent.... : (

I'm not sure...as no experience with them cards....

But the card could be @ it's max...that's why they graded it as a XL??

The reason why your temps stay the same in 2D is because the card only consumes real power in 3D...

I understand that, but I'm sayin, running that 3D test in atitool doesn't cause any increased temps over stock volts. Sorry, thats what I meant.

Also, I didn't want to have to face that sad possibility. I was just hopin I'd have another 75 mhz in that core. I've seen ppl hit 650 and 680 on air at 1.25 volts on other forums. I'm just sad if its true.

More and more... sadder and sadder... oh well... : (

Thank you, I really appreciate it...

I'll do whatever I can for whomever, as well.

I wish I wasnt so poor, else I could buy parts that give me the performance I'm trying to eke out of these parts....

Thanks again guys, have a happy new year.

you're not the only broke person in here.....I'm a college student living in the South, where manufacturing jobs are prevalent and people look at you funny when you ask them about IT jobs, I feel your pain, lol (originally from the north, lol).....if I was making enough money to do it, I would have a 7800GTX 512 and the rest of the components I need to finish my build, heheh.

if you want good basis for OC, you need to lower your temps. if you wanna go the easy way: get an NVsilencer for your card if you want top cooling performance (I'm not mentioning water cooling 'cause that's expensive) then do an extreme cooling mod like I did. it's as easy as getting an NVsilencer, not more expensive but much more efficient:

http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopic.php?t=3263
Main rig: NZXT Phantom modded case with Danger Den WC, Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite, Ryzen 5800X @ stock, 32GB Patriot Viper DDR4 3200Mhz 16-18-18-36-1T, AMD RX 5700XT + AlphaCool WC, ACER Nitro XV2 27", SP 1TB nvme PCiE GEN3, Samsung 2TB; Cooler Master MW Gold 650W, Win10 Pro 64
my complete GFX tuneup & cooling mod: http://forums.legitreviews.com/viewtopi ... highlight=

haha, Mr. I took up all my slots with a SI-97, lol

but hell, it works good I am sure....if it keeps a CPU nice and frosty, I can imagine how well it works for a GPU :)

did you disable the ati smart and hotkey service like it said to in the guide?? It seems like though after i do that my games dont run right, i.e. when i disable AA/AF it stays on there and such, and my frames suck!! I will really have to sit down with it and figure out what is going on. Its just that sitting there for hours on end watching the same 3dmark thing over and over is really boring. LOL
However, in game pushes the card even more so that might have to be a new way to test!

me too bud, i am right here in your shoes!! I am trying to get the most without having to buy extra cooling. Ive got more important things to pay for, car, credit card... etc. LOLOL If we cant do it, then we cant do it together! LOL

You guys are awesome. I have managed to break 577 on the core and 1500 on the memory!

Its couldn't do that before and now it seems to be broken in or something? Is that normal? I know thats how my 25 percent overclocked cpu began...

Idk, I keep tryin new things and keep gettin higher and higher. Two references:

3dMark05: 8793

FEAR @ 1280x960, 4x AAA, HQ Filtering (everything completely maxed out):
Ran the ingame test: 51 fps

This FEAR test at the same settings yielded 40 at stock, and the minimum rose by 10 frames!

This card rocks... too bad R580 is a month away....

A lil update... I got my core to 575 stable and my memory to 1476 comepletely stable at stable volts... and...

I broke 9k in 05.... i know its not all about benches and stuff, but 2000 points increase in that app is pretty substantial...

It kinda parallels my FEAR performance at stock as well... 39 fps to 52 fps in the timedemo... both rose by 30 pecent. I think benches actually might represent some sort of acknowldgable reference....

Idk, I'm quite happy with this thing... 8)

A 2000 point increase in 3Dmark05 for free is pretty darn impressive. Sounds like you a happy camper to me!

Yea, the cooler is stock and there are no fans blowing on it. Its a shuttle case with very good airflow, however, and heat doesnt ever pose problematic issues.

The voltage on my core is, from stock 1.075..... 1.125

The voltage on my mem, from stock 1.889.... 2.250 (however I had it stable at 1494 at 1.950 volts before---dunno why it suddenly need .2 more...)

The I/O voltage, from stock 1.889.... 2.124

I am looking at the zalman vga fan for cooling though. I'm scared to perform surgery on my baby...

Like I said, heat isn't a problem with my case... wear n tear however... hmmm, thats another story...

Well, you also have to remember that, just like CPU's and memory, no two snowflakes are alike. Where josh's can clock that high, yours might not be able to do so. 570 on the core is good IMO, and 550 (1100 effective) seems a little low, but like I said, no two are alike, and you might have to bump the memory's voltage a little more, but if it doesn't yield anything worthwhile, then I would back off it. Remember, other system hardware can change how well components OC (don't know the exact specifics as to why, as it varies with board layout, design, components used, etc.....but trust me, it does variate how well you can OC things like your CPU, graphics card, etc).

Have you tried any real-world testing yet (read: gaming)? I would see how well it performs with a good little fragging session....good way to let off steam too, lol :)

yeah i am quckly realizing that. SUCKS, but yeah no where near that. However if and when i get some fans down there to blow on it, it will help.

anyone know how much i can take the mem volatage to with stock stuff?

so far i am @

580.5 core @ 1.245v
569.50 mem @ 1.960
and the core temps gets up to 80~81 during 05'
