New Case Needed!

Post by DMB2000uk »

My case sucks :P
It doesnt even have a system fan for crying out loud!

I'm not being silly when i'm assuming you can put a Micro-ATX MB into a full sized ATX case am I? I want to clarify this before I start 'shopping'.
Do you guys know of any good cases out there? lol, ok what I mean is:

My current case is too cramped:

Image
I would like to be able to space out stuff, drives especially as they are well too hot.

I live in the UK, so any case suggestions would have to be available over here! I guess my budget is around £50 (~$100) :P

The position of the ports on the back aren't important are they? Because i was wondering if they are case specific, or if the metal plate comes off somehow.

One more thing, between the FDD and the bottom DVD drive is a multi card reader thing (can see the 'space' it occupies at the top pic, i think it would just fit in a normal 5.25" bay, but aren't sure. Anyone have any opinions on that? (Multi card reader front pic:)

I know i only ever ask loads of stuff on here, but you guys are the best and always reply to my questions! This one's for you all: :drinkers:

Do you want support for alot of HDD's?
Do you want silence?

Do you want a big or small case?

ATX will take microATX boards just fine. :P

As for a bigger case, would a mid-tower be enough?
I think a full tower would be a bit overkill.

Fry's has a pretty decent selection at fairly decent prices, and they ship internationally.

Can't go wrong with the Antec Sonata I/II (very quiet) or the P160.

I use the P160 for the rig in the sig.....

Super case...support for 5 HDD's more if use use other means ;)

But I think it's above your £50 budget.....the Antec sonata (thanx kerii for the suggestion) is a great case...very low-noise and comes with a low-noise PSU which will run your current system fine....It's might be slightly over budget but worth it...(less than the P160)

Post your requirements!!!

you like Tt too eh? it's definitely a good case! of course, you can't beat the Sonata II either, it's a great case with a damn good PSU.....well worth the cash you pay for it IMO. Of course, with all that space, you can't go wrong with the Tt Tsunami Dream either. :)

Ideally I would like to upgrade to watercooling some time in the future (wouldn't we all!), so a totally silent case isnt essential.

The mid-case idea sounds great.

As for the hard drives, space for 4/5 sounds good. Bear in Mind I currently only have 2 HDD's but might expand. :P
Though if there is adequate space between drives for good cooling less drive slots is ok.

Cheers for the thoughts so far. (I'll have to check them out later though!)

Here's 2 cases so far......

You can try here for a Chieftec CH-03 Case.....

Or this Thermaltake Xaser Tsunami case -> also available in Silver

Both should be in your budget....The links are to the .ie version of the site, just change it to .co.uk for your prices!!!

I got a thermaltake shark, its light holds lots and has a "wire hiding" system in it. The honeycomb design on the side i think is excellent and kind of adds a nice touch with the right lighting. LOL

That's a pretty cool case. What fans are in it 80mm or 120mm?

No, I never take my PC anywhere. I don't really have anyone close to me that I know of that I could LAN with. BF2 would be a sweet Lanparty game. KILL KILL!

If your willing to spend up to $100USD then i would look at Lian Li, they make some top notch cases and they should be availible there.

I have the PC-60 case and it is built very nicley. They make good quality stuff. My gripes are that the 80mm fans are noisy as hell (replaced with panaflo's - much better) and even though the airflow is supposedly good, it still runs a little warm.
