ever since this country (Ireland) changed to the Euro currency prices here have gone way up....

It's going to cost me around $40,000 to do an addition to my house. In other parts of the country, $40k could buy a house.

$1,000 a month of taxes going out of my paycheck with over 50% of it going to very poor quality education system that has not proven that money helps.

Lol, I just got on here to post that exact same story! That is insane!!

I thought it was bad in STL...get this:

We just bought a 3bdr house, 1300 square feet on a 10,000 square foot lot near St. Louis (2 counties away).

My parents (in southeast Missouri) have a neighbor who almost sold his 70+ acres, including multiple farm buildings and his 4 bedroom ranch (don't know square footage) for about 10K more. Makes me want to cry.

Over here Millions is supposedly going into the health system....people can be waiting 18hrs+ @ times in ER........our education system is fine though...

house prices here have gone

a 3 bedroom house where i live would go for ~80K 6-7yrs ago, now ~300K!!!!
and i don't live in a upper-class area...It's all working class (blue collar) people.

My sister moved to Wales when she got married, she lives out in the middle of the countryside (gorgeous place, national park)...they pay ~£500 a year car insurance for 2 cars. This is after her husband was banned for diving for a year, he was dui...they live 1 mile from a pub and he had a pint and a game of pool...stopped 30ft from home...I checked around for quotes for car insurance for a .9ltr crappy car....I was quoted 3,500euro a year

pints are 5 bucks over here...it was crazy when i went to scotland...about 3 pounds per...thats 6 bucks. not fun!!

house prices here....we (people i work for) building an 18 unit condo complex. 2 bedroom/2 bath place, about 1100 sq ft. with a detached garage is going for 420,000

I have a friend who lives near L.A. and she said that a little 2 bedroom house on a small lot will cost $200K+

Man...must be nice to be one of those people who bought a large house 10 years ago....just to sell it for 3x what you paid for it!

House prices are still rising here, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop soon either.

what I want is to win the euromillions lottery, this week it's 125Million euro

Last year a woman from Limerick won 117 million!

My 2 bedroom house 5 years ago cost me $89,000. I live in a blue collar town and nearest big city is 15 miles away.

Price of my house is up to around $130,000.

A guy I used to work with moved here (St. Louis) from L.A.

He told me that he sold his place there and bought a house and 10 acers of land here for cash.... insane
