New Folding Challenge!!

Post by infinitevalence »

Ok the last challenge went well, we got a lot of interest but only 1 person made it :( so I have a prize to give out but i want you guys to help come up with the terms of the the Challenge.

I have an Aerocool Masstige case Reviewed here that I will ship to the winner. This case is slightly used :) as it held one of my folding systems up until the other day, and it has been reviewed, but it is in great condition and still worth around $100.

Lets hear some ideas, make it a real challenge because this is a big prize :)

What ever computer can show a screen shot of the highest point in a week and average it up in a month. kind of like start fresh each week. I dont know how that would work, but maybe you can get something off that. LOL

Yves, since it is your prize, its kind of up to you and what your goal is with this contest. Here are a couple of ideas though...

If the goal is to get more new folding members, then there is really no better contest than doing the referral method and the folder who recruites the most new active folders this month wins...

If the goal is to reward the current folders, then I'd say something like make the folders keep track of which project numbers they are folding. Have them look the project number up HERE and the folder who completes the project worth the most credits wins.

Just some ideas.

I tried to recruit folks from some other non-computer forums I frequent and my posts were largely ignored. :( Some folks from a motorcycle forum actually wanted to delete the post thinking it was spam or had malicious intentions. I have over 500 posts there for heavens sake! Unfortunately, I actually have very few non-cyber friends who have a computer or have one that they are willing to use for folding because it's a business computer.

Something to reward the average user is a must IMO

We all can't be like you Yves......
There are alot of members with 1 rig and who fold 24/7....I have 2 rigs but @ the moment my PPD is lower than most of these "real folders"....now when a challeng begins i could easilly beat these members but they deserve it more than me......!!!!

Yeah, I have 4 instances running and it's not fair to those who don't have the means to match what I or Ken etc are doing. I don't need the case so I respectfully decline contention for the very nice prize. Plus, being a mod on the forum, I don't want to have any perception of impropriety :) I do think it's a good idea to have a giveaway!

I know its a good give away thats the idea. Maybe we should make it open to only new folding members.... then we just need some type of benchmark that they need to reach to win.

Mayby get all folders to post their specs.....
Or open the contest to only people who fold with 1 rig.....I know the likes of KnightRid can't enter, but I'm sure members who have more than 1 rig wouldn't mind not entering, since they might not need a case anyway...

(thanks for the superb effort KnightRid..keep it up mate, your doing wayy more than is expected.....not to say more would not be welcomed, or that there are others who I forgot to mention lol)

I got a couple of my friends folding now, but since were still tinkering with settings trying to get our systems running good its not really showing any real results. We need 1 more member to make 100, been sitting at 99 for a little while now...

kenc has a good idea - do it for the 1 cpu folders...Maybe you can get someone who just needs a case to then use 2 cpus!! :)

now to shut down all computers for a bit till i can be a 1 cpu folder..ROFLMAO..just kidding.

I would take myself out of this contest jsut because I dont have the hardware to fill this beautiful case...would replace 1 of 2 broken ones, but they just have plastis doors broken so they still work ;)

Mike

fold fold fold...it is worse than crack...maybe a civil suit for causing addictive behavior is in order..hehehehe

I lost 3 grandparents to cancer. I'll happily fold for no reward. However, prizes are a great incentive. Let me know what I need to do, because I have all the makings for a rig, but no case to put it in. It's just sitting there saying, "I want to fold. I want to fold."
