I stumbled accross this article.........
It's fairly technical......you'll haveto read parts of this 2 or 3 times.....
But it explains how the AMD64 actually works and why it's so efficient.
Be warned....It may take a while for it to sink in.......

Try http://www.howstuffworks.com ....then work your way up if you are interested in this stuff......
It's very interesting stuff, once you get the basics.....but head wrecking to get to grasps with... LOL
