Sorry people, but the more I research the OCing info on the "Web" the more confused I get. Seems every one has a slightly different approach on "how to do it".
This much I have gotten straight. Do it in the bios, stay away from most windows based apps. NP there as the bios doesn't bother me at all.
Different folks just want you to bump up the FSB speed and everything else will go up.
Why can't I just up my Mup. on my FX-55 from 13-[2.6] to 14-[2.8] and get it to behave like a FX-57?
Or is that just to simple and I'm missing something here?
Keep in mind, I'm new to Ocing , so please, go easy on me

In your case with an A8N-SLI Deluxe you have to overclock by multiplier because you can't go over 230Mhz FSB.Fogey wrote:Sorry people, but the more I research the OCing info on the "Web" the more confused I get. Seems every one has a slightly different approach on "how to do it".

Lukily you do have a FX which is multiplier unlocked which means you can bump up multiplier to 14x.
Most ppl overclock by FSB(HTT) because all non-FX chips are multiplier locked upward so clocking up the FSB is the only way to go. To do that requires a proper built mobo than can take over 280Mhz.
Pretty much. Do some intensive tests like Prime95 and play some games. If your system has issues you can try to give it a little bit more voltage, but most FX-55's that I've seen have no problem running 2.8 on stock volts.Fogey wrote:So far, this is good.
Will me uping my mup from 13 to 14 effect anything esle?
Will my FSB speeds still be 200 and everything happy as all my system will still be stock except that I have now have a 2.8 Proc vs a 2.6 proc?
