With the DDC pump, NO squeal when there is fluid in the pump. If you get a squeal, then shut down the DDC ASAP. The pump is running dry.

With the BOSCH pump, it still squeals if the fluid in the pump is basically water without enough lubrication of PG.

with a maglev pump, when you can tell it's running dry and if you should shut down, is a bit harder.
the maglev will neveer squeal or really make any noise at all. the only way to tell if something's wrong or gone dry is if you feel it. you'll feel a tubmling bumping feeling, liken to tennis shoes in the dryer but on a fraction of that scale.
when my pump failed, it wasn't the pump that failed, it was the electronic PCB and the surface mount electronics on it that failed.
Asetek has a nice chat interface and the tech support guy said he's sending me out a new PCB and once i get it' to have me send him the old one back.
