Adding some additional fans to my rig....
I have a CoolerMaster Cavalier I with a plexiglass window on the right hand side and I was wanting to add a couple more fans to my rig, however I am not certain how I should arrange them. I've got a spare 120mm & 2 80mm fans to play with. Currently I have two fans running minus the cpu and video card fans. When I got my box I perfromed a little mod to the front by removing the vu meter and installed in place of it my spare cpu fan. Works great by blowing across my HD. The second is a 120 mm exhaust fan, standard location. My temp's seem normal, even after running all day: CPU & system temps hang around 29 degrees Celsius.
Thoughts, suggestions please?

well, you already have a negetive air pressure air flow, which is more air being pulled out the pushed in. this is a good thing.
i built a friends case with the same case you have.
only thing i could suggest is to get a router, use painters tape the acrylic all over "outside" side of it and mark a circle using a CD then draw straight lines about 10mm thick and 10mm apart from one another. take the router with a stright bit that cuts 10mm widths and gently cut the lines in the acrylic. once done, line up your 120mm fan (best to be all clear fan) then pencil mark the four hole for mounting. take off the tape then use a dremel with a slight pointed tip griner bit and smooth down the edges a touch. then you're done
you've got a 120mm fan blowinf air right at your vid card and the partial top half of your mobo.

I am of the mind that you want more air going into the case then going out, but its a fine line, too much and you will defete the fans.
example: you have 5 fans on your case all are 80mm and move about 35 CFM then put 3 as intake fans and 2 as exaust fans.

they all use negetive pressure. in fact, the whole consumer market is going that way, FINALLY by having dual rear exhaust plus the blow hole exhaust, plus the PSU exhaust and the one 80mm intake with the case having air inlets in strategic places.
my experience, about 11 years, i've tried all the trends and, not to knock you IV, none have worked better than copying the commercial stuff. i believe negative pressure with "spot cooler" fans is the best solution. hot air is harder to move than cool air. cool air seems to go around the hot spots and not cause turbulance.
so, with the 120mm pulling out the air and a 120mm pushing in less air but blowing at your mobo/vid card. that should get you what you want. Razorbacx

but they make temp prob's read temps if you dont read temp shame on you! dont oc in summer time period. look big hole coming in small hole going out or vice a versa the air inside the box if it stays there long it heats up move it around and get it out....dust is inevateable (cant spell it) so what. Lol they make a can of blow off compressed air just do some maintance once in a while and all will be cool...Lol 80 in 120 out live with it or 120 in 80 out suit your self buy some water parts if all else fails.

i have one 120, 80 blow hole, and 92/80 from the PSU for pulling the air out. then i have 4 case fans for re-ciculation of hot air so it's adding turbulance to disrupt the hot air, and one 120 intake that blows over my hdd's.
my room temp is 72F and my case temp sensor is up near the mosfet power regulation circuitry and the case temp sensor never goes above 30C ..usually stay around 27~29C and that was with water cooling so no heatsink fan.
i'm totally happy with that.

Lol no I just said that dust is a must It does not care where or who it go's too it will come to the sys that is hot or cold just get some blow off and watch witch way it goes! every where! all diff dirctions The power supply is 99% heat build up the cpu the same the hard drive as well if jucie runs thru it it gets hot. over volt some ram and see what it does. If it dont fry it will get hot fast and stay that way there is a reason you have to try to move it around the less time it is inside means it is on its way out and cool air is on the way in.

I have one intake and 3 exhaust fans. The intake blows directly on the HDD. A rear fan is locatedby the processor which has never gone above 45 C while running Prime95 for 24 hours. A fan in the 320W ps. ansd a side mounted fan in the area of the processor.
