—Rising artist Matisyahu attains Gold Record status for live album recorded using AMD64 processors—
AUSTIN, TEXAS—MARCH 28, 2006—AMD (NYSE: AMD) announced today that “Matisyahu Live At Stubbs”, the 2005 live concert performance captured using AMD64 processors and released on Or Music, achieved Gold Record certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for selling more than 500,000 CDs.
“Matisyahu Live At Stubbs” was recorded in Austin, Texas, in high-resolution 24-bit/96KHz audio using AMD Opteron™ processors running Steinberg’s Nuendo media production software on top of the Microsoft Windows XP Pro operating system. Reaching Gold Record status in today’s music industry climate is a remarkable achievement demonstrating Matisyahu’s popularity as an artist and the continuing momentum this powerful hardware/software combination is having in the world of audio and music in terms of mission-critical reliability, power, and sonic quality.
“The spirit of ‘AMD Live!’ is about artists being spontaneous with complete confidence in the technology in mission-critical environments,” said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment for AMD. “Nothing embodies that spirit better than a great musical performance captured live and AMD64 processors make it easy and affordable for emerging artists like Matisyahu and other aspiring musicians of every ilk.”
“A special magic happens when an artist performs in front of a live audience that traditionally has been difficult and expensive to capture,” said Larry Miller, CEO of Or Music. “We were delighted to work with the AMD team in Austin, in capturing this incredible performance,” continued Miller. “The technology worked beautifully and the results speak for themselves.”
