Good to hear. I heard this move was done because Intel was gonna release the whitepapers of the conroe chips or somthing like that. One thing is this won't help AMD out this round once Conroe hits the streets.

Another reason I'm waiting a few months to build my new PC.

I wouldn't jump the gun on getting an AM2 just yet. If you read any of the preview benches it doesn't out perform S939 by much; anywhere from 0-15% and ain't much. No real advantage unless you OC. I say get s S939 as the prices of S939 should fall within a few months after AM2s release.

YAY! I can buy my new rig sooner, because I will be able to make the call between 939 and AM2 faster than I thought (assuming "real" AM2 comes out, not just for hardware reviews, IE people find bugs/issues).

Some online retailers are already preordering AM2. I will make up my mind btwn AM2 and Conroe after the retail versions are bench.

I was very excited about the AM2 socket until I started reading about the Conroe performance. Even in its early stages it seems to be blowing away anything else out there. I think I am going to have to go back to the dark side of the chip market!
