Removing stock fan from Ati X1800

Removing stock fan from Ati X1800 adding Zalman 900 have instruction for Zalman. I need some advice on the proper way to remove old fan on X1800 heatsink needs paste removed clean old heat sink paste again? just some tech questions for those who may be able offer knowledge on this subject.

i dont know about the screw patern, but you will need to remove the thermal paste and pads from both the GPU and memory. To do this use some alchohol and qtips or even beter some lint free fabric or paper. once you have them clean you will need to use new thermal paste on the core. Then use the thermal adhesive provided with the kit to attach the ram sinks to the memory.

I am not an expert (note the first line of the sig) but have done some reading and multiple hsf replacements. I got some of THIS stuff to clean and purify the chip upon removal. I have been told to apply a ceramic solution for vid cards like THIS. Also, if the heat sink is kinda stuck on, (after unscrewing of course) try using a hair dryer to kinda warm up the heatsink then pull it off.
