When they say that after February 2007 that the features will be lessened, what exactly does that mean? Will I have full functionality from Word and Excel?

Thanks

You answered your own question dude. Less features does not mean it is fully functional. It's like taking cruise control, your stereo, the air conditioning, power steering, and your automatic transmission (replacing w/ manual) out of your car...it now has less features. Still works, but does not have everything now.

Expiration Date

All 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 software has an expiration date of February 1, 2007. After expiration, 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 will continue to work in a reduced functionality mode that limits your options and operations.

Thanks for the link though... I might have to give this a shot.

Open Office is nice, but there are many features it doesn't have that Word does. For one thing, Word loads in like 2 seconds, where Open Office loads in 10+.... Might be an exaggeration, but it takes a very long time to load compared to the Office Suite.

And does everything have to look like it's from the future? I hate when people are graphic whores and can't accept what the software actually does. It has to have the best graphics that require a 7900 series graphics card in order to run. Why not kill your system less on an application and go for one that has great features and not the best looks, rather than one that has awesome features and awesome looks, also taking up many more resources? Not to mention, you're saving yourself $150+ by downloading Open Office than buying the MS Office Suite.

lol yeah, OpenOffice.org might not be the most user-friendly software out there and it isn't one of their main positive point. What makes them great is that the software is a free alternative to Microsoft Office and it is quite powerful. Plus, it is open-source, so that's a great plus. :finga:

Luckily, I won't be obliged to use OpenOffice.org as my father will most certainly get a copy of Office 2007 from work.

The long load times are caused by the use of Java I think. Really sad. Arg, most java-based software are so heavy on the system :axe:

By the way, the guy over at Gomeler has written a decent review of Office 2007 Beta. From what I read, he seems to be really enjoying this new version of Office and it poses great enhancements from the older versions.
