The 9600GT? I'd like one of those please :P

Did you mean the 7600GT? The memory used in graphic cards and PC's is called DDR (Double Data Rate) this means that the computer accesses it on the fall and rise of the clock counter, effectively using twice every clock tick.

Therefore the actual memory is running at 747Mhz (its actual speed will fluctuate slightly, so its close enough to 750Mhz), but its effective speed is said to be 1500Mhz (1494Mhz).

So don't worry, you haven't been ripped off!

Just to clarify, there is no 9600GT! It doesn't exist!

Like I said, is it the 7600GT?

Well you could moan about a theoretical 6Mhz, but in practice its actual speed vary's ever so slightly, so that it will hit 1500Mhz and sometimes go over, just depends when you read what its at.

Now a rip off in the core speed really is a rip off :P

If I were you, i'd download ATI tool and manually set the core to the speed it should be! (or overclock if you are so inclined!)
