ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Motherboard Review

Post by Apoptosis »

The ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard can be found for under $56 and supports the latest Intel Core 2 processors with no problems at all. It sounds too good to be true, but we have had one on the test bench and it's no B.S. this time around. Read on and see what the budget friendly ASRock 775Dual-VSTA motherboard can do against the Intel D975XBX 'Bad Axe' motherboard that costs nearly five times as much!

After spending a a couple weeks with the 775Dual-VSTA board I have to say I really like it. When you consider we’ve just seen this $55.99 motherboard hold its own against the Intel 975 chipset in the situations we tested, a motherboard that is over 4 times more expensive at $242.99! I'm currently using it in my 24/7 system which should tell you a lot about the confidence that I have in it.

I can't get over how well this board performs. This is a great budget/mainstream board if you aren't looking to overclock.

Well this board just got even better.... At Newegg they have open box versions for $26.99 - When i posted this review at 2am they had them in stock, but now they are sold out... Keep an eye on the link to see if more come in.

Great review! That is a gem of a board at that price! And the open-box makes it too good to pass up, even if you already have a setup! May be time to build another box!

Hi

I have currently a MSI motherboard with 478 socket processor.

I wanna upgrade, but that means I should replace everything I have except dvd writer and hdd.

If I'd buy that motherboard, could I use my 478 on it :?
Can't buy new processor any time soon... and as you know processor is the most expensive part when building a new pc

[to::Bwall] Sorry.. I got confused... there was so many different processors listed that I thought maybe I could use it too :P Guess not :|

Unfortunately it's an LGA-775 only board.

Surround Display

"You also cannot use AGP and PCI-E at the same time"

In the manual that came with this board it can use both the PCI-E and AGP at the same time ( must look up compatible cards ) according to the disc in folder "Information ,Manual,Surround Display Information" you will find PDF explaining how to use it . I have not been able to confirm it works at this time I only have AGP cards . it is working fine with AIW9600xt

My brother has recently gotten this board in his new free PC from uni, because he has dsylexia, and i was wondering about a couple of things with this board:

1. A SLi warning keeps popping up when it starts up, how do we disable this, because obviously it cant do SLi at all (or can it?) but for now there is only one card in.

2. Whats better DDR 333Mhz @ 2.5-3-3-7 or DDR 400Mhz @ 3-3-3-8? I think its the 400Mhz so have swapped it over to that.

since your using DDR, take the faster stuff, Conroe is suffering as it is being on DDR, so take the highest.

Check in teh bios and see if you can disable one of the Slots, so all is recognized is one slot
