XFX 7950GT Review (but the 7900GS is still super!)

Post by DMB2000uk »

Tweaktown has an exclusive review of the 7950GT at the moment and the card looks to be fairly good.

But in all the tests shown the 7900GS is at stock speeds, if we were to go back to the previous review where they overclocked the 7900GS to the max, the results would paint a different story.

Thats right, the XFX 7900GS 'max' beats the 7950GT even when overclocked!!!

The story is mostly the same with games, with the overclocked 7900GS slotting nicely between the 'stock' and overclocked 7950GT results.

You can compare the rest of the reults yourself, 7900GS overclock review here and 7950GT here.

Maybe the passive heatsink limited the 7950GT's potential but I know which card i'm getting still.

Tweaktown broke their NDA to get the first scoop... Our article will be published tomorrow in accordance with our NDA with NVIDIA and XFX.

Lots of ppl breaking NDA's lately eh Nate :P

I gotta hand it to you though, I dont know if I'd be able to cope sitting on the next latest and greatest thing and not being able to talk about it to anyone, so I can understand why you get annoyed if other people do break/apear to be breaking them.

Reason I linked to this one (I knew you guy's would have the review up soon enough :)) was that I'm really impressed with the 7900GS ablity to shine when overclocked.
