Hmm i was kinda hoping that the results from the BOIS-STD tests were the important ones, and that the BIOS-ALL tests weren't that important!
Looks like its gonna be a long day. I did read though through memtests website somwhere that the asus a8n32 sli deluxe throws up errors but I that doesnt make me feel better. i dont like seeing red errors! I'll try all your methods, but i have no idea about turning up voltages and all that bios tweaking business as i never touch o'cing stuff .i'll buy new ram if i have to. see what happens. if then the errors happen again....
Cheers for the heads up.

Don't worry about the bios settings! test the ram in different slots and combinations........if the problem is still there, we can help you with the Bios, if need be.cloakfiend wrote:but i have no idea about turning up voltages and all that bios tweaking business as i never touch o'cing stuff .i'll buy new ram if i have to. see what happens. if then the errors happen again....

Hopefully all you need to do is try different ram slots on the board!

Ok, i pulled out the memory and tested each stick in slot B1 as it says so in the mobo handbook, (it says only use that slot if you have one stick?) but i got the same results for both sticks of ram in that one slot, i dont want to mess the mobo or mem up by trying the other slots unless i know its safe? is it? this memory thing is worrying and now i'm thinkin it could be the cause of other problems i had with 3d programs and bottlenecking in my tracking software.

I think I have already reset the bios, well upgraded it and then downgraded it from dos, because i got some weird things going on in Flatout2 graphically but it remained messed up even after i set the bios back so i just uninstalled it out of stress. I'll reset the bios again and try the two memory sticks in each slot and then run memtest86 and prime95 on each, and let you know in the morning. I read this on corsairs website, not sure if it is relevant:
Troubleshooting Tips for DDR-400 (XMS-3200C2)
Settings for this Module:
Speed: 400MHz Latency: 2-3-3-6 Voltage: 2.75
Why are the timings shown in the SPD set to CAS 3?(as they are in mine)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All of our XMS-3200C2 will have their SPD set to JEDEC defined values for the specific memory IC used to make that part. This is done to ensure maximum compatibility with a wide variety of motherboards. The tested settings Cass 2-3-3-6 for Intel and Cass 2.5-3-3-6 for AMD need to be manually set in the BIOS.
but there are no clear places in the bios to enter these settings without wandering if im just guessing so i wouldnt know if thats maybe a cause of the memtest86 problem?

Ok I'm not sure now that there is a reset bios feature, there is a clear cmos thing where i had to move my ati card and pull out the battery and short the contacts by moving a jumper. Bit long!! much rather have a switch or something! any way did that 8 times in a row whilst rearanging ram slots etc, and still no change in memtest, i posted a pic of my bios which i only changed the cas latency from 3 to 2.5. rest on auto. i must stress that memtest does pass all its STD tests, and im not really sure what memsizing really is? from boot to memtest it never shows any errors, even after 15 hours. maybe your not meant to use that BIOS-ALL thing could be the bios...??? well, any help would be much appreciated before i buy another board or graphics card.

Hi, I did the memory timing thing as well after a bit of research on the web and just entered the 2.5 3 3 6 numbers into the corresponding tras trp and trcd but nothing for the others(trrd, trc, trfc, trwt?), also i just thought i'd note that my machine reset itself whilst initialising the graphics card in windows (before o'cing in the morning which is why i didnt post so soon?) it magically started to work after 12 reboots. I've now overclocked it to 2.5Ghz on air and am in the process of downloading 3Dmark06 finally, so i can compare it with your results. I'll post as soon as i run it.

Heres my 3Dmark06 score, some of the polygons in the demo were mad i.e. looked like something seriously wrong? even though my gpu is not overclocked.

a pretty close score to yours Kenc51, yet you seem to be able to play your games with full antialiasing at full res, and all games are smooth, whilst i am limited to whatever my computer decides it want to play smooth or not.
If you have any other help or advice, i'll do it, otherwise i feel pretty gutted only having this comp 3 months and now i'm already on the look out for a new one. its weird how my last one had the same problems and it was an intel also with an ATI.
cheers for all the support and help,
Mac.

Cheers, my gfx cards fan does go into a frenzy come to think of it on those 3dmark tests.
I read somewhere that you can buy pci slot fans that do exactly that, I will give it a go and let you know the results, i reckon my pc it too hot min temps of anything on it are about 40-50 degress most other people state mid 30's. I guess thats what you get when you buy a cheap case!
I'm going to invest in a new one and hopefully all should be sweet if not i'll buy another system...
Thanks again,
Long Live PCs, I've had to work on a Mac for the last week, and they suck, one button on the mouse? no hardware eject buttons, stupid apple keys, idiots! i'd rather buy ten pcs than a mac. less hassle and way more software and games, and they come in black.
Peace to all and i hope you are all playing games with maximum settings on!!!!!!!!

Don't go spending good money on a fan, remove the side panel on your case and use a case fan or any kinda fan to blow air across the gfx card.....then play some games......do this to test and if it gets any better then you might need a fan. I suspect the gfx card cooler might not be getting good contact with the various parts of the card.
