one. billion. dollars.

id half to guess it would be around 30-35 thousand but at the same time daimler-chrystler might price it to be competitive with the Mustang. Any idea whats under the hood? If it comes in a v6 and a v8 then you can bet itll go against Mustang.

from what I have heard the v6 version is to be in the low 30's the hemmi high 30's low 40's and the SRT will be high 40's

at any price I can't afford one, well not unless I win the lotto between now and '08

That is retarded, Daimler-Benz already butchered the Charger and now they are not going to price this competitively with the Mustang? WTF? Can someone explain to me how that makes business sense? I guess they figure that since only people that can afford a mid to high 30 thousand dollar car can afford gas for it there is no sense in pricing it lower.

Camaro/Charger= Mustang. Challenger= well...nothing. It has NO competition, and wasn't planned on competing with anything...but the old Challenger. It's supposed to be THE muscle car. THE muscle car does not compete..it wins merely by showing up.

you cant compare the charger to the mustang, THe Charger is a 4-door sedan (it still sounds wierd saying that) and the mustang is a 2 door coupe. Also the price ranges are completley different as well as the demographic. I dont see many people under 25 driving Chargers but I see LOTs of people under 25 driving Mustangs. Young people are going to want that Challenger but its going to be out of our reach because of the cost.

Sure, but you don't sell Dodge cars. My family has been doing it for over 60 years.

Factoring in new parents, and men that need a four door for usage, but want some power, the charger IS the direct competition for the mustang...with a one-up on the Mustang because of the extra usability.
2-door sprtscars also feature high insurance, generally have higher fuel consumption, and lower resale value, although this is highly dependant on the car model. Nevermind the charger, with some mods can compete with the mustang on the track...

Dodge wants to replace the minivan. the Charger is that answer. But in order to appeal to a larger demographic, certain concessions must be made, including matching the competition.

And sry, car makers rate cars by cost. all $25000 vehicles share the same space...it's not about tailoring a car to the buyer...but tailoring a car to the buyer's budget. It has nothing to do with performance, until you are in the high-end(Viper/Vette, etc). the challnger is meant ot compete with entry-level lexus and porsche buyers.

And sorry, but I already compared them. can't say i can't when i already have :finga:

Has hell also frozen over?

Also as a lowly consumer who is not affiliated with any kind of Dodge lineage I gotta ask:

Why would'nt the Magnum be a better fit for new parents and "men that need a 4-door for usage but want power"?

Also I gotta say as a consumer and lover of the old Charger I think that a car with the history that it has deserves better then to replace the minivan.

I never liked the show but still there is something comical to the guys from the Dukes of Hazzard driving around in a minivan.

You'd be right about the Magnum, but that's geared towards those with a higher average income than those that the Charger is aimed at. CEO's, lawyers, etc, with fams, drive the Magnum(there's 4 of them on my street that all have this car, kinda confirming Dodge's line-up), and screams of power, prestige and comfort, with no sacrifices.

And we are not talking about DIRECTLY replacing the minivan, but providing an alternative for those buyers that would normally buy a minivan, with a larger profit margin for the sales people.

And let's face it, 2-door cars aren't meant for families.
